This is not different from most other nights in their favorite bar, save for a few things.

1. Ango isn't here.

2. Dazai is really drunk. The kind of drunk that has Odasaku concerned that he might be trying to die through liver failure. That drunk.

And so, it's with hesitation that he speaks up.]

Maybe you should stop drinking for tonight.

[But he's red and looking anywhere but at Dazai's face, so that should be telling enough.]

[What.... Now Dazai gets to turn a little pink, despite his grin.]

[He's not actively denying it, though. That sure is an interesting spot on the wall.]

Oh shit. Dazai's eyes widen a little.]

Do you... um. I mean, have you...?

[Dazai, use your words or he'll misunderstand.]

[tenimuho]

...I don't know what you mean and I don't want to guess wrong again.

[Because that got them into this embarrassing conversation to begin with.]

[ninjou]

[He gestures vaguely with one hand.]

You seemed really surprised when I kissed you. I thought you didn't care that much. If you're thinking about that... you're moving too fast, right? For someone who doesn't like me like that...? Wasn't this all me?

[tenimuho]

...I don't think about this sort of thing very often, so I don't know exactly how to say it.

[Odasaku tries to carefully put his words together. It's hestiant, but at least he's looking at Dazai again.]

I think I could be happy even if things didn't change between us. If things went back to normal and we just stayed friends.

But... I also think I'd be happy if you kissed me again, and I wouldn't feel that way about any other person.

It's not just you.

[ninjou]

Ah.

[Dazai is smart and clever and he thinks on his feet but... this is almost too interesting. He's thinking about this too hard. He's actually imagining what it would be like to be able to be something that's the same but with more kissing and...

That one might change things. Even if he'd pretty much do anything for Odasaku.]

They didn't change, for me. I've liked you for a long time. I just didn't have the opportunity to tell you properly. So my feelings aren't different at all.

[At least not when it comes to things that have to do with him.]

[This part - all the feelings. He could kiss him all day, that isn't the problem here.]

[Dazai hums thoughtfully.]

Don't look at me and see my title or rank, okay? We're friends. [He said it. The F word.] You need something better in your life than me, but we can still do things like this, right?

I can do that.

[He'll have to train himself out of seeing Dazai as better than him, but he thinks it's possible. Especially knowing that Dazai feels the same way about him.]

...But please don't feel like you're making me or I'm just doing it to make you happy. I want to do this too.

[If that's not clear, he can't do anything.]

[ninjou]

[Up off the floor Dazai goes, heading for the kitchen. Good talk, go team.]

You'd never do that. I don't think you like hurting people as much as I do.

[Odasaku is up on his feet when Dazai says that last bit.

He nearly walks into the wall.]

[ninjou]

[SUCCESS.]

[DAZAI IS A VICIOUS MAN.]

Dazai.

[You are going to actually kill him. His blush goes up to his ears.]

[ninjou]

[THIS IS TOO RICH.]

[He is going to die of embarrassment. The only option left to him is to strike back.

Problem: he hasn't spent nearly as long as Dazai thinking about this.]

[He cannot look at Dazai when saying that, which doesn't help him with this revenge thing.]

[DAZAI WAS KIDDING.

OH NO.

POOR PURE ODASAKU.

DOES HE TELL THE TRUTH OR DOES HE GO WITH IT OR SOMETHING IN THE MIDDLE?

[He is staring RIGHT AT HIM he wants to see this reaction.]

[Dazai. That at least makes him look at Dazai, and although he's still bright red-]

That's good. ...I didn't want to hurt you anyway.

[He isn't going to pull Dazai's hair or bite him unless he asks really nicely.]

He smiles and walks back over to Odasaku, not ignoring his problem, but trying to press right up against him and corner him.]

Be gentle. Does it feel good, though? It seems like it wouldn't...

[He'd almost sort of gotten that problem to go away, Dazai, now it's back with a vengeance.]

It does feel good.

[His voice is a little strained. He's not sure where he wants to put his hands right now.]
