You wake up in a hotel room. You don't remember the previous night at all. In fact, you may not recognize the sight outside the hotel window. It doesn't matter where you were, because you're in Las Vegas now.

Also, you're sharing the bed with someone else. You may not recognize them. You probably don't. They may not be your preferred gender, or species. It doesn't matter, because you have matching rings on your fingers - or whatever you have that approximates a finger - that can mean only one thing.

You got married in Vegas.

Top-level with character and canon, all that jazz. This is more intended as a silly meme than as a shipping meme, but if you've got preferences for shipping you can list those too.

Just by the nature of No Longer Human, Dazai should enjoy a certain level of immunity to everyone else's shenanigans. Can't be driven insane by Q, or dragged into a book by Poe. Can't be healed by Yosano, which is annoying when he could really use it, but on the other hand, there's something to be said for not giving Yosano an excuse to cut him up.

But Lovecraft's already proven that Dazai isn't completely immune, even in his own world. There are stranger things than abilities out there.

And waking up on the doorstep of the National Library instead of in Dazai's bed would certainly qualify as 'strange'.

There's a sign that says it's the National Library, and it looks like any pictures of the National Library Dazai might have seen. Dazai gets about a minute to puzzle over what the hell happened before someone steps outside, and freezes.

"...Dazai?"

Finding someone he hadn't expected to see ever again on his literal doorstep is enough for Chuuya to drop the insulting nickname. It'll come back later, don't worry.

HANAHAKI DISEASE

The Hanahaki Disease is an illness born from one-sided love, where the patient coughs up flowers or flower petals. The only cure is to have that love reciprocated, or to somehow wipe away all one’s memories of their beloved person. The infection can be removed through surgery, but the feelings disappear along with the petals.

1. Post your character with name, canon, and ship preferences in subject line. Also include whether you'd prefer your character to be the one suffering from the disease or not.
2. Tag other people.
3. Pain.
4. If you need help choosing specific flowers, this flower meaning chart might be a good starting point.

A long time ago, a species called Two Canes ruled the world of Sisa. They were second only to the gods and they built many great wonders with marvelous tools. But that was a long time ago, before the gods brought retribution down on them, before the sun fell into the sea and the moon was split into the Moon of Light and Moon of Shadow. Very few records exist from that time.

Now the dominant species on Sisa are the Ribika - descendants of the Cats who obeyed the Two Canes. They don't have the technological secrets of Two Canes, but they get by, somehow. Life has become gradually more difficult for them, primarily because of the Sickness and the Void.

The Sickness is a mysterious illness with no known origin or cure. It causes body parts to disappear suddenly, as if they were never there, and it continues consuming a person until they die. Female Ribika are much more likely to contract the Sickness, so females are currently scarce (but not extinct).

The Void is an infection of the forests all across Sisa. Anything natural infected with the Void - the plants, the animals - becomes harmful to the Ribika, wounding them at the slightest touch. Not all forests are infected, and most only partially infected, but a mostly-infected forest may be impossible to traverse without knowing the safe paths.

blah blah blah gay sad catpeople

1. Ribika
Your standard catboys and catgirls. They have cat ears on the top of their heads and tails - the tails are especially sensitive. They can be different kinds of cats - big cats, small cats, etc. Most cats come from small village - the biggest city on Sisa is the city of Ransen, the capital of Sisa where cats live in the ruins of human buildings. The Sickness and Void haven't reached Ransen quite yet.

They have some animal instincts - grooming, keeping territory - and are affected by catnip in the way you'd expect. They have a mating season, the effects of which are especially potent if you're near a cat you're compatible with.

There are two kinds of cats, who usually fight in pairs: a Sanga and a Touga. A Sanga is capable of using a 'song' to bolster the abilities of their Touga partner. It doesn't have to be literally sung - it can be played on an instrument, created in more peculiar ways, or in the case of some powerful Sangas, simply brought forth from their heart. The strength of the song is based on the strength of the bond between the Sanga and the Touga - it's impossible to sing for someone you don't really know. The Sanga is vulnerable when singing, so the Touga has to be able to protect them as well as defeat the enemy.

Some cats are capable of outright sorcery, but it's a rare talent.

2. Devils
And then there's these guys. Someone who dies - human or cat - while feeling a single emotion incredibly strongly may become the devil of that emotion. They have various magical powers, including control of an element and the ability to teleport. They are enormously powerful, so much so that they can split up their own power into shades of themselves to be in more than one place at a time, and they have servants of their own.

Devils can make contracts with cats. The forging of a contract can't be witnessed by anyone else or the contract is null. In exchange for a wish - I want power, I want revenge, etc. - the cat gives up their soul to torment after they die, forever, with no way to save themselves without the devil agreeing to let them go. They can also gain power by eating people. That's not fun either.

Devils are incapable of refusing their own desires and incapable of lying, but they are very good at manipulating the truth to their own purposes. You should probably not trust them.

Some devils have been alive long enough to remember humans. They tend not to think of them very fondly. Happy lives don't produce devils.

They do have cool horns, though.

OPEN MATCHMAKING POST

Stolen from Lyndon because it's a good idea. Here's how this goes!

1. You leave a comment with a character journal you want matched up!

It's important that in this comment you include if you want F/F, F/M, M/M, or are open to whatever, as well as what kinds of characters you think might ship well with yours, and like... a quick summary of their personality for me! Also specify if you're here for smut or not or if you want assumed CR or a particular relationship stage or... whatever other information you want to put in. Age range, certain characters/canons you definitely don't want, whatever! No specific character requests though, that's important.

2. I will reply with an offer!

You are obviously free to veto or respond or whatever, but I'll run through my muselist (or inevitably for someone make a whole new account) and find someone and reply with an OOC hashing-things-out comment. If it works, reply with a starter or an affirmation if you want me to start!

3. ~can you feel the love tonight~

Would you like to visit Christo? You would, excellent! Here are some options:

1. Immediately post-TF, Christo is still with Killia (and now Mikazuki) in the Netherworlds, helping with restoration and reconstruction after everything Void Dark did. In between wedding planning (help him he's so lost) and all the post-game nonsense (don't ask about the Carnage Dimension) he's more than willing to host guests and show them around various Netherworlds - Toto Bunny is probably the safest, while Gorgeous has been remade to its former glory and lives up to its name.

This is a good option for ridiculous Disgaea hijinx such as 'did that person just punch somebody from space, and did they just survive it'.

2. Sometime after that, though, Christo does return to Celestia for a longer period of time and can have guests there! Celestia is about what you might expect from a version of heaven - it's beautiful, fluffy clouds and trees and lakes and hardly any conflict at all. You'll see Prinnies doing housework, including Christo's housework.

...You also might meet his superior officer, because I guarantee you that his superior wanted to know where he'd been and pressed him for every little detail about murdercollege. I'm sorry in advance.

3. If you happen to be a long-lived Apprentice - like, thousands of years - you might get to see Christo become a bigger nerd than he already is, and also the Seraph, meaning he's the one in charge not counting God. He's a lot more chill than he used to be, and also way better at Chessmastering.

4. Or, if you aren't a long-lived Apprentice but still want to go 'why would anyone put you in charge' at him, I can make something up with time travel. Time travel's canon in Disgaea. I will find a way.

[Of course, Odasaku is the person with the thickest Osaka-ben in the National Library. Miyoshi's from Osaka too, but his accent isn't nearly as pronounced. And they don't talk all that often, anyway, since Miyoshi seems like he dislikes him for some reason.

Odasaku loves his home more than anyone, and one of the things he misses about it is hearing the dialect. It's the way he talks, and though he's more than used to hearing Toyko-ben or other dialects by now, it reminds him that he's far from his home. Which, he is, but even hearing it from someone who wasn't Osakan would be nice...

Dazai probably feels the same way, yeah?

So Odasaku does a little studying. The internet's a useful tool when it comes to picking up things like this in secret - you don't have to ask for a specific book, you can delete your search history, it's perfect. He'd be out of luck trying to do this back when they were alive, or at least doing it without raising suspicion.

After a couple of months, he doesn't think he's fluent yet, but he can at least hold a conversation. So, how to surprise Dazai with it? He doesn't want to make a big deal out of it, so in the end, he decides to just say something while they're already in Dazai's room, talking about nothing important.]

Hey, Dazai. Do you miss the countryside?

[His accent's still pretty Osakan - that would take a long, long time to change - but the vocabulary is all Tsugaru-ben.]

[There were two enemies to having long hair: maintenance and wind.

Maintenance was an enemy that Christo could conquer. He put his hair up every night so it wouldn't tangle ridiculously by the time he woke up. He owned hair products specialized to his particular needs. He knew how to comb his hair so that he wouldn't yank out parts of it every time by struggling with knots.

Wind was another story.

Wind-using demons, especially, were another story.]

I may have to chop all of this off and start over.

[Christo is being overdramatic, but only a little. His hair is currently an absolute mess.]

[Going to Chiyo's school is refreshingly normal. Yonaka had never actually liked school, but she's learning to like it. It's not home, it's not Koriko, so it's fine. The routine is nice.

Go to school, take your classes, leave school, spot someone familiar on school campus as you start to head home-

Wait.]

[Dazai's been following Akutagawa around a lot. He really does admire him, yeah? Always has.

It's fine to admire someone, but Odasaku isn't sure Dazai understands that Akutagawa isn't going to return his admiration. Akutagawa isn't going to be the one to make him happy. That's Odasaku. It's always been Odasaku.

Luckily, Odasaku is the master of sounding casual and relaxed when he doesn't feel relaxed at all.]

I heard Akutagawa talking about you.

[It had mostly been a joke.

Chuuya had claimed neither of them could write a poem if their lives depended on it. Odasaku had accepted the challenge on behalf of himself and Dazai, and told Chuuya they'd write whatever kind of poem was hardest. Tanizaki had been in the area, and, well... Tanizaki.

So here they are in Odasaku's room, writing erotic poetry.]

Any luck with yours?

[Maybe this wasn't a super great idea.]

[Introducing Atsushi and Kyouka to the library had been, in some ways, surprisingly easy.

Chuuya had disappeared for a few months, so it wasn't all that strange that he'd come back with two more people in tow - and given that they were all dead authors anyway, explaining that there was a parallel world where they weren't dead authors hadn't been that difficult. Miss Librarian had accepted it, anyway, and Miss Librarian's word was law.

Things kind of go that way when she's literally the only reason any of them are alive.

Chuuya'd introduced Atsushi and Kyouka to the chief librarian, a boisterous man who'd welcomed them to the library and told them they could stay as long as they liked. Then to the talking cat, who'd been quieter, but told them that there were library positions they could fill - normal positions, like filing books. They could live peaceful lives, if they wanted.

Miss Librarian took care of explaining things to the other authors, and the first writer who approached Atsushi when he had a moment to himself was...]

Ah, excuse me. You're... Atsushi-kun?

[...a nervous-looking young man with a boa made of white tiger fur.]

[Cherryblod did not intend to kill anyone. He had no interest in this week's motive, and certainly even less interest in causing the deaths of those he considered friends and family.

But he wasn't so optimistic to think that someone else wouldn't move this Thursday night - and it seems he was right.

The battle of a vampire versus a Pokemon would have been interesting to watch, had a dear friend's life not been at stake. But Cherryblod wasn't exactly willing to sit around and see how Kamui vs. Klinklang turned out.

Vampires are hard to kill, but they will react to a sword pierced through their back and straight into their heart like everyone else does: by dying.

He's smiling when Kamui collapses to the ground. It's not at all a nice smile.]

[So Dazai likes clothes, yeah? He's big into fashion and that sort of thing. So clearly, if Chuuya wants to get along with Dazai better, he should drag him clothes shopping.

He looks innocent enough, which is probably a bad sign.]

I picked out some clothes in your size. You'll at least try them on, right?

[Definitely a bad sign.]
tenimuho: (I can't help but feel the sadness)

[Of course it eventually came to this.

There was never really any doubt in Odasaku's mind that Dazai would be the next boss. Even among the executives, he was the most talented, the most ruthless. Once Dazai removed Mori from the picture, his position would be - well, not secure, but as secure as being the head of a mafia ever gets.

Odasaku knew it was coming. That doesn't mean he has to like it.]

You called for me, boss?

[The boss's office is very, very nice. That's one of the few entirely positive things that Odasaku can say about this situation: Dazai has an even nicer office now.

He'd rather not dwell on the other things he might say.]
tenimuho: (like the spring we are such fools)

[Someone who knows Odasaku as well as Dazai does surely noticed from the moment that Odasaku entered the bar, but he's in a surprisingly good mood tonight. He's humming a little, his steps are lighter, and there's even the hint of a genuine smile on his face as he sits down.

Ango's not here tonight, so it's just the two of them and the bartender.

Inquire as to what's made him so pleased?]

[Convincing Dazai to spend time getting to know the other Chuuya had been as easy as giving him a Look and implying that Chuuya was annoyed Dazai didn't immediately agree. So really it had been more like bullying him into it, but same difference.

The instructions poet-Chuuya had left with novelist-Dazai, with mafioso-Chuuya in the room to hear them, were: "Behave, don't cream your pants if you hear the name 'Akutagawa' like you usually do, try not to talk about dying, and have fun, I guess?"

The moment his Chuuya is out of the room, Dazai lets out a relieved sigh. Logically, he should probably be more scared of the Chuuya who actually kills people for a living than a poet, but Dazai Osamu's mental processes have never exactly been logical ones.]

So, uh... Nakahara-san?
