For ninjou, yandazai~

[Someone who knows Odasaku as well as Dazai does surely noticed from the moment that Odasaku entered the bar, but he's in a surprisingly good mood tonight. He's humming a little, his steps are lighter, and there's even the hint of a genuine smile on his face as he sits down.

Ango's not here tonight, so it's just the two of them and the bartender.

[Ango will probably be fine, but... still.]

Please excuse me for a second.

[Odasaku rises from his seat and turns towards the door. He's only leaving to use the bathroom, but he'll probably be pretty concerned when he finds that the door is locked.]

[ninjou]

[Well. That's... abrupt. Dazai's eyes go wide while Odasaku isn't watching, then narrow. What did he do wrong? Why is he being rejected? No one just walks out on an Executive, even if they are friends.

Laugh. Fucking laugh.]

I need to get that lock fixed, don't I?

[tenimuho]

[Odasaku jiggles the handle somewhat. No luck.]

...I need to use the bathroom.

[Unless executive offices come with toilets, this is a Problem.]

[ninjou]

You could've just said that. I'm surprised you're just walking out.

[There's a trick to the lock. Dazai makes it look like the handle is acting up as he releases it, then pulls the door open.]

The lock slips. I've been stuck in here a few times.

[tenimuho]

No one wants to hear that much about my bodily functions.

[It's polite, or at least Odasaku thinks so.]

I'll be back in a second.

[...he really is just going off to use the toilet. Take a break from your yandere-ing, Dazai.]

[ninjou]

[He chuckles, again forced.]

Don't do that in front of other people, okay? It'll make it look like you're undermining me. I don't think that's a good idea, you know?

[Blink, blink.]

[If Dazai says so.

Odasaku takes his toilet break, then returns to sit down in the same chair.] Where were we?

[ninjou]

[He means walking out on a conversation without properly explaining. One doesn't just do that, unless one wants to make the superior person in the room feel like a fool.

In Odasaku's absence, Dazai stews on that. Is he being too casual? Not casual enough? Should he relax? He's stuck in his train of thought, leaning on the chair Odasaku occupied, when he enters again.]

You can leave, if you want.

[tenimuho]

I don't want to. I like being around you.

[They don't always get the chance to just spend time together, outside of the bar.]

[ninjou]

[But he left he left he left without being more specific he was just going to walk out and--]

Right! Of course.

[He fiddles with the little game system as it charges.]

[maybe acquire some chill]

...I'm sorry, did I upset you?

[ninjou]

[What is... "chill"?]

No, but it's getting kind of late.

[And he has someone to go interrogate.]

Alright. If you had things to do, you should have said so.

[ninjou]

That's not it.

[He wiggles the little game system.]

I just now saw the time.

[Smiling, Dazai sets it back down and walks over to Odasaku.]

Things have been kind of weird lately, but I want you to know that I'm looking out for you. Not that you can't look out for yourself, other than the whole "I won't shoot anyone" business.

[tenimuho]

[Not killing anyone is important to him, so he won't apologize for it.]

I know. - Thank you, Dazai. I'm grateful to you.

[ninjou]

[Not killing anyone is like... the opposite of Dazai's MO. So...]

You don't need to thank me!

[He smiles, and is it a little... off?]

Just stick around.

[tenimuho]

[Everything seems fine here! ...so what's this nagging feeling?]

I will. I promise.

[ninjou]

Good.

[He stands, moving back over near Odasaku, then rests an arm on his shoulder.]

You know... before I met you I never thought I'd feel like this about someone.

[tenimuho]

I'm honored.

[He's nothing special, but it's nice that Dazai thinks otherwise about him.]

[ninjou]

[Well. He's being pulled into an almost intimate hug.]

[tenimuho]

[Confusion? Also concern??]

Is everything alright, Dazai?

[...he will return that hug after a moment, though.]

[ninjou]

Everything will be fine.

[But he's not letting go.]

[tenimuho]

That's not exactly a yes.

[Concern is amplifying.]

[ninjou]

It's close enough.

We'll go get drinks tomorrow.
