This is a post for me voicetesting Gin. Hit me up with thread starters for Gin (Port Mafia coworkers? Ran into her in casualwear? Enemy organization where she can't just attack you immediately? Generic jamjar? You're dating Akutagawa Ryuunosuke and have to meet the family??) or give me a character and I'll come up with a thread starter.

Cross-canon is fine as well as canonmates!

[She could definitely adapt. That statement, though, clearly took her by surprise as she pulled the last knife free and cleaned it, eyes scanning for any obvious signs of their identity, or presence.]

I have to admit... I'm more impressed then. The best are usually mentored by masters.

[Gin shook her head.

Her brother, with his Ability he hadn't yet learned to use effectively, had been mentored by a master. She was lucky not to have needed Dazai's tutelage.]

[The last of the knives picked up, she looked around in satisfaction. There were no sirens, but there wouldn't be. Nobody had witnessed it and lived, and there'd been no time to call. Besides, this wasn't the sort of place you called the police to visit intentionally.]

You have real potential. A pity we're so far away. I'd enjoy watching you work more.

It's too dangerous to keep contact.

[At least about anything that matters, i.e. their assassination work.]

Perhaps, but would it hurt to send an occasional, coded message to a drop box? Or perhaps just agree not to talk shop too much? I see no harm in hearing from you, if we did it from a distance.

[ogin]

...I don't do much that's worth talking about besides work.

[So there's no reason to keep in contact if they aren't going to talk shop.]

mmm, I suppose that's fair. But perhaps we will meet again. In the meantime, though, would you like to go out for a lemon ice? I know a nice place downtown.

[Yep, talking light treats while she's cleaning the blood off of her knives. Chloe wasn't even remotely phased by all of the murder. It was an everyday thing for her.]

[ogin]

[The murder didn't phase Gin. The invitation to dessert did. Her eyes widened slightly, and she hesitated to answer.]

...Why?

[Their job was over, and Chloe should have been ready to part ways.]

Because I want lemon ice, and you'd be good company? [She giggled.] It isn't as if our handlers are expecting us for an hour or two, is it?

You can still catch your flight home afterwards, and we'll have a lemon ice in the meantime. [She paused, looking at her and smiling.] You might want to put your mask away while we do it. Less conspicuous. We'll just be a couple tourist girls. Nobody notices them here.

[ogin]

[She has a good point about the mask. And lemon ice sounds nice. Gin expects to have to pay for it, but even so, they have time.

So she pulls off her mask and puts it away, and then lets her long hair down. If she were in a dress or kimono, she'd be the picture of a Japanese beauty. Not someone who'd automatically stand out in a crowd, especially a crowd in Japan.]

[Chloe's eye sparkled a little as she did that and she nodded, trying not to say that she was beautiful. It would have come off oddly, she thought. Motioning for her to follow, she led the way out through the back.

The good news was that Gin wouldn't have to buy the lemon ice. Chloe did bring money.]

[ogin]

[Not having to pay is a pleasant surprise, and it even gets a smile out of Gin. Much easier to notice without the mask.]

...Good taste.

Thank you. I like to treat myself. And it's not like it's fattening.

[Chloe liked the chance to do things like this. It was a feeling of normalcy amidst all the carnage, and helped make everything feel normal to her.]

Thanks for joining me. We might have to part ways soon, but no reason we can't have a little fun, mmm?

I don't usually indulge like this.

[Gin had considered a number of possibilities for working with another organization's agent, but getting lemon ice hadn't been on the list.]

If you know the right kinds of indulgences, the vices that don't really harm you, it never hurts to treat yourself just a little. Makes the hard work so much better, mmm?

[Was this the sort of thing she'd had planned herself? Not really, but she certainly wasn't going to say no to going out with a cute, taciturn and murderous girl. Chloe did have a type.]

[ogin]

[Gin nodded - this did make the satisfaction of a job well done even more satisfying. If it was possible, she should find a harmless indulgence once she returned home.]

...Other indulgences?

I have quite a few, actually. A good glass of wine is always nice, when I am not on duty. Sometimes, the thought of going out on a date is pleasant. It all depends upon my mood and who I'm with.

What do you do for fun?

[ogin]

[Gin shakes her head silently. She doesn't have much in the way of hobbies, so it's a question without an answer.]

Take a little time, when you find it, to do something a little bit fun. It makes the job stress easy to manage if you have something to do for fun when you're not training.

[ogin]

[The look Gin gives Chloe is dubious. Who has time for that when they have to balance it with mafia work?]

[true_noir]

[She gave her a beatific look right back, like it wasn't that big of a deal. Of course, the truth was that this reflected how limited of a person Chloe could be. The only thing she was ever asked to do by Soldats was kill. Anything focused on that, she knew and prepared for, but between those times, she tended to simply be left to her devices.]

mmm, just give it a chance. I'm sure you will find something fun to do.

[ogin]

...Thank you.

[That's the only thing Gin can think of to say in return. Even if she has her doubts, Chloe doesn't have any reason to offer her advice like this. They'll likely not see each other again after Gin returns to Yokohama.

This is what people mean by 'the kindness of their heart', isn't it?]

[As she started to finish up her lemon ice, she sighed a little and looked up at a clock in the distance. Oh, no matter how much she might wish it, because it could be so difficult to find people she could identify with, there was no way to avoid the passage of time.]

Mmmm, I fear it is time for cinderella to disappear to her great steel coach soon, is it not?

[ogin]

[Gin nods. For some reason, she wishes she was staying for a little longer, even though there's no more work to be done.

How strange.

She hesitates for a moment longer, then writes something down on a napkin and hands it to Chloe on her way out, not waiting long enough to see her reaction.

It's her phone number.]

[Chloe took it while she smiled at the woman's departure, waving once. Slipping it into her pocket, she'd send a text to Gin later on, perhaps in the next hour or two, while she'd be waiting on her flight.]

Miss you already. This is a burn phone, by the way, so I'll send you a new number if it changes.
