Let's talk about hate.

Let's suppose I hate someone very much. I could enact all manner of violence on this person and not be satisfied. I enjoy getting the better of them, and when I don't it drives me to to challenge them even more.

Classic hate.

The problem is that I am sure they think of me as insignificant dust, not worthy of anything close to a relationship. And for probably good reason - in wit and banter I can compete, but otherwise I'm not in a good position compared to them.

Your advice?

I'm sure you can get their attention! I mean, you're worthy of just about anybody! Um, I mean, I could never hate you, but I'm sure somebody would want you like that, and you could really have anybody you wanted in any quadrant, so, um, I don't mean to offend you...

Does it bother you at all that someone you should be able to crush is in a position where you can't do that? Does that frustrate you? I imagine it must be a little irritating at least.

What position would that be? A gnat pitted against a man? It's true--I would expend far more energy to extinguish you than you're worth to me.

Ah, I see. If that's the case, then I must congratulate you on your fine sense of calm. I had thought you a lesser person who could be moved by anger, but clearly I was wrong.
