2. Dazai is really drunk. The kind of drunk that has Odasaku concerned that he might be trying to die through liver failure. That drunk.

And so, it's with hesitation that he speaks up.]

Maybe you should stop drinking for tonight.

Two guys? That's a little weird for kids.

[Dazai is still getting used to it himself. He's also assuming a lot about children he didn't really know much about until a few minutes ago.]

They were going to learn at some point. It's not like you'll be all over me like this.

[There's a long pause as Dazai leans on him, and buries his face against Odasaku's shoulder.]

Maybe someday they'll be my family, too.

[It's a shame Dazai can't see the beatific smile he's being given for that.]

...That'd be nice.

[ninjou]

[He imagines they'd end up in the mafia though...]

Hey... I'll protect them, okay? When I'm the boss.

[tenimuho]

[wow no? It's a good thing Odasaku doesn't know he's imagining that.]

I - Thank you, Osamu. It means a lot.

[ninjou]

[No questioning Dazai's intent to depose Mori. No resistance. Just gratitude.

He kisses the back of Odasaku's shoulder.]

I'll love them. I'll be good to them, and to you. You'll never have to worry about anything.

[It wouldn't be good for Dazai, being the boss, but it's inevitable. Like an oncoming tide, or taxes. There's no use fighting.]

I'll do what I can for you.

...But I don't know if I'll be able to call you 'Boss'. Maybe only in public.

[The monster in him will be the only thing left. He tries not to think about it. He's still young enough to pretend like there are some good things in their world.]

Don't call me "Boss" in bed.

Some people would probably be into that.
