AU! Roleswap Ghirahim. Skyward Sword spoilers and stuff.
[Scenario 1]
[So you're the hero meant to save the world! Or something like that. And you have this magical sword that's meant for the chosen hero, and it comes with its very own spirit to help guide you through your journey.
Unfortunately, since it's the special sword you need, you can't just ditch it when it turns out that the spirit is a snarky asshole who doesn't seem to respect you at all.]
Not a day goes by when I don't wonder if there was a mix-up and I was meant to be wielded by someone more competent.
[At least he's not outright disloyal? Probably?]
[Scenario 2]
[You've been on this quest for a while, and you've gotten better at things like combat and not needing Ghirahim's help for every stupid puzzle. In fact, he might even respect you now, or at least a lot more than he did when you first started out.
That said, he's still Ghirahim. And when random people you need to help with your sidequests insult you...]
He could still perform his role for you with one of his arms ripped off, master.
[...he doesn't take that very well.]

IDK SOME MIX OF 1 AND 3????????
Still--being without many of his friends, Naoki can't help but consider the possibility, and, well, here he is. So the sword was actually also a person (demon? He's not sure if it's a demon or not), which is cool. He's used to demons being both murderous and a little nuts and also cool.
The teenager with glowing tattoos can't help but kind of wonder, though... what now? Hm. ]
... Ah...
[ Okay, okay. He knows he shouldn't have picked up the pretty, shiny sword, but it seemed so LONELY... also, anything to help him murder Kagutsuchi would be. Nice. ]
... Hi, I guess?
[ Eloquent hero is eloquent. ]
sup
So you're to be my master? For some reason, I pictured the one who was meant to wield me as a bit taller. [No complaints about the tattoos though.] Well, we can't always get everything we want.
[Ghirahim tsks and circles him.] Not bad in muscles, though that doesn't translate into skill. I'll reserve my final judgement until I see you in combat.
trying to find where lucifer took my shirt to :(
But what are words.
Naoki is not good at them, for... lots of reasons, but mostly because he's found with demons actions are just far more efficient. Maybe the eyeball lazers will impress him or something. ]
... Am I really that short?
[ Yep that's what he'll focus on--but he'll glance back at where he came from, that portal, and frown. Hrm... a fight, well, it won't be hard to find one... everything and its mother wants a piece of him. He has no idea why. But you know, Magatama and whatnot all sort of help. It's worth noting though he hasn't finished his transformation just yet--eyes are still very much kind of yellow. ]
good luck brosef
But I'm getting ahead of myself. My name is Ghirahim. Who is it that thinks himself worthy of wielding me as his sword?
[Not that he'll call him by his name very often, but it's nice to at least have it.]
he will never find it, Lucifer probably pawned it to one of the many shirtless demons
[ Not all demons were into that, but he tries not to do the whole I AM THE ONE WHO WILL KILL GODS AND CRAP shtick if he can avoid it. He's kind of low-key. He dislikes boasting because he's honestly not a FAN of his position. OR his powers. OR killing, in general--he prefers NOT to do it, it's just, he has no CHOICE.
But Naoki will pause, mentally giving thanks he'd remembered to, like, heal and everything before coming out this way. ]
... They call me the Hitoshura. Or the Demifiend. But my name is Naoki Kashima. Nice to meet you, I guess--but if you're worried about "worthiness" then we can just figure that out ourselves, can't we?
[ AKA: Go kill shit. Because while he dislikes it, he's good at it, and an awful LOT of things seem to WANT him dead... ]
dammit Lucifer
There's something to recruiting followers, but intimidation has served me well in the past for that purpose. You'll learn, if you survive long enough, exactly what is and isn't useful for handling demons.
So, child, shall we be off? Nothing here poses enough of a threat to judge you by. Unless you were to trip on a rock - I'm afraid I'd have to judge you harshly for that.
no subject
... That won't be a problem. Just... don't get very close, with this.
[ He'll hold a hand over the Amala Drum nearby--where did it come from? Hard to say. But warping is easier like this, he thinks. It'll spin and make noise and then flash brilliant red, and here they are, the Amala Labyrinth. Let's see... which Kalpa? As long as he avoided the room Dante was hanging in; he didn't feel like dealing with him just yet, having asked him to stay put there while he went to get some help, and the enemies were strong enough just nearby there, so he'll settle for that one.
It... doesn't seem like it takes long for him to gain notice--demons seem to always be after his skin. Maybe because he's so very SPECIAL. They weren't weak, by any means; surely Ghirahim could sense as much. But... he won't ask for his help here. Because up until now, he's been managing okay. No, the little ones were easy. Besides, he knew they'd just return here eventually (did demons even really DIE? Didn't they just disperse, here, and reform?), and none of the ones here had any interest in joining him, so no loss. He decides not to summon any of his friends for this fight. He can manage, he thinks. He already has the Magatama he's most concerned with equipped; protected from Death, by Satan, even if it was an annoying little symbiotic thing, cheeky. Of course, when you're using brain parasites for your power, you tend to be the only one hearing them. Or sensing them. Or knowing how to remove them.
He's used to that. And the demons here DID love their Death-based skills...
Regardless, it's not hard to get right into it. Demons. Surrounding him. He does seem more serious, a little more tense, but also a little more feral--it's because he's part demon now, and it'd be a lie to say SOME part of him DIDN'T like this... he'll Focus in on his targets, taking that energy--his eyes must be glowing like crazy, as everything darkens and giant cracks open up into the ground spewing demonic energy from his attack.
Well, you know--if you want impressive, there is that. And then he'll heal himself, carefully... one left. A physical resistant one. Well, he has an answer for that, too.
It's called Freikugel, and it's nothing, if he doesn't just Focus in, he can't murder things with.
I mean, how many heroes have YOU met with eye lazers that, when charging, will darken everything almost impressively so, the only thing left those glowing tattoos, until they're blasted by pure demonic energy into nothing but their base form again? Not many, probably. Although whatever is left he has no trouble handling with his fists and Magma Axis, and he does get some scrapes or two (happens when you don't wear a shirt, but becoming a demon has toughened his skin considerably), and he might be bleeding a bit, but it doesn't seem to be much of an issue.
But he also knows his powers are hardly exclusive--and they do get tiring, eventually. Still... he can only hope what's transpired is deemed "impressive" enough; Satan seems content to feed off the Magatsuhi leftover once Naoki takes it, anyway. ]
1/2
If you sought to impress me, child...

[Raw power =/= sword skill, but it helps.]
Leeet's go for 2
But there were times that they agreed on things, such as right now as she rests her hand on the hilt of the sword, her already short patience wearing thin.]
Do not tempt me. I would rather not have the higher-ups breathe down my damn neck than they already are. [The higher-ups being the angels higher up in the hierarchy. Zoe was already in trouble for getting a demon sword, though she didn't seem at all bothered. She rubs the bridge of her nose, grumbling to herself.] ... Do we really need this talisman? Can I just blast down the damn door to get into that temple?
no subject
[Ghirahim sighs loudly.] You could at least threaten him. Surely the angels can't be too picky about a tiny detail like a promise to break his legs if he doesn't cooperate.
no subject
Which seems to work, and Zoe grins as he finally goes to open up the mine so that they can get this talisman, now starting to walk into it as her lance vanishes.] So, next task is to fight whatever great beast is guarding the talisman. Because there is always one.
no subject
That should be simple enough for you. Still, I'm looking forward to it after this little display.
[He really wanted to actually hurt that guy.]
no subject
Hopefully it will not go down too quickly. A bit of stress relief sounds good... Since you do seem particularly irritated.
[It's a casual observation, and she soon frowns as the heat in the mine suddenly spikes up, tugging at the collar of her shirt with a frown.]
no subject
[That he had found unbearingly irritating.]
Oh, and I predict we'll find a useful item in the mine that we'll need to advance further, and then to defeat the final enemy. I'd give it 70-30 odds, wouldn't you say?
no subject
Heh, sounds about right. And the item will more than likely be something we have to solve some inane puzzle to get.
[And yeup, Ghirahim was right, since they end up being blocked by a waterfall of lava, and Zoe squints her eyes, spotting the talisman embedded in the wall behind said lavafall.] Well, at least we found the talisman. Now just to go item hunting.
[Of course there are monsters around here too, and Zoe just glances as a small imp tries to get the jump on her before she kicks it into the lavafall, casually watching the monster burn away before she turns to go exploring and moving to loosen her shirt collar.] And at least the lava allows for easy disposal of the more annoying monsters.
no subject
[This is definitely what Ghirahim spends his time thinking about.]
no subject
Yes, I can confirm that they do.
no subject
[You indulge him way too much.]
