[They're not dating.

Waver won't call it dating, and Dazai won't contradict what Sensei says. So they're not dating, even if Dazai drops by Waver's apartment a few times a week. Even if Dazai drags him out to restaurants and movies, those aren't dates. Even if they kiss, that doesn't mean they're in a relationship.

But Dazai is a patient person, at least when it comes to winning over the people he adores. He survived murder castle - he can survive Waver being closed off and refusing to do more than kiss. He let Dazai feel him up once, that's progress...!

Today, like most days, is another visit.]

Sensei~ Are you busy?

[Even if Waver's busy, Dazai will just wait in his apartment until Waver isn't busy. But the show of accommodation for Waver's schedule is habit now, and maybe Waver will relax a tiny bit more because of it.]

[ each time waver lets dazai into his apartment, he questions his sanity more and more. maybe he never had it in the first place and this is proof of it. the fact that he lets dazai be physically affectionate with him further proves it.

this time around, waver is clearly busy. or, well, he should be. there’s a stack of papers from his students on his desk, waiting to be graded. and they will continue to wait until.... until god knows when.

today, waver wasn’t expecting dazai. that’s why he greets him in a t-shirt and boxers, his hair pulled up in a messy ponytail. he blinks sleepily at dazai, as if trying to process why he’s there. ]

Come in. I’ll... make you some tea. [ and he’ll let dazai make himself at home. it’s not like they haven’t made out in at least half of the apartment by now or anything. ]

[Maybe Waver isn't exactly prepared to show off his looks, but Dazai is going to appreciate seeing him half-naked anyway. He's not even hiding that he's checking Waver out.]

I don't need anything to drink, don't worry about that.

[He is thirsty, but not for tea.

Dazai steps inside the apartment before Waver can change his mind about letting him in.]

[ at least someone likes the twink look.

actually, considering waver is canonically the clock tower professor most people want to bang, dazai's not the only one who thinks that. he's just the lucky one that has actually managed to get the closest.

but alright, no tea. waver closes the door as soon as dazai enters and...he doesn't really know what to do. ]

You're coming here a lot more often. Don't you have any books to save?

I'm off of delve duty until we clear out the book we're currently working on. Miss Alchemist said something about archers and routing...

[ waver can’t even say that he doesn’t want that from dazai. for some strange reason, he’s grown to enjoy having dazai around. it’s different than the usual faces of his sister and gray— not that he was ever lonely in the first place!

he huffs, moving to sit on the couch. he looks away from dazai, trying to hide the way his cheeks turn red. ]

Well, I’d rather have you here than trying to do something stupid.

[Sensei is adorable sometimes. Dazai's smile grows even wider as he sits down next to Waver.]

I should thank you for taking such good care of me, sensei.

[thank him with sexual favors]

Thank me? That’s... you don’t have to do that.

[ because waver is shy and tsundere ]

[ waver doesn't know what dazai would want to do to "thank him", but he doesn't want him to act like all of these are favors that need to be returned somehow. ]

I don't want you to...feel as if you owe me anything. If you want to do something....Do it because it really comes out of your heart.

But you'd get embarrassed if I phrased it as 'I love you and I want to worship your body', so I thought thanking you would be easier.

[ WELL DAZAI IS ABSOLUTELY FUCKING RIGHT

waver is actually...visibly shocked. shocked and speechless over what just-- did he hear that right? he couldn't have heard that right. why would anyone feel that way about him, out of all people?

he gulps, and it's practically impossible for waver to hide his embarrassment. ]

You-- you don't mean that.

[Even if he's pretty sure Waver wanted him to say it literally never. Too late for that.]

[ he didn't. and yet, he doesn't really mind the fact that dazai did go and say it. ]

I'm not that special. Why...would you?

You're special to me. I wouldn't trade you for anyone.

[Not Ibuse-sensei, not Haruo-sensei, not even Akutagawa-sensei. His relationship with Waver is different and irreplaceable.

Dazai reaches out to take Waver's hand, and if Waver allows, kiss the back of it.]

[ waver blushes when dazai takes his hand, pressing a kiss to the back of it. it’s such a surprisingly gentle gesture... ]

You’re so embarrassing....

[ and yet waver wouldn’t have him any other way. ]

[Dazai is a surprisingly gentle person. At least, when it comes to people he likes.]

I gave you the less embarrassing option first. Now you're just going to have to hear how much I love you and want to make you feel amazing.

[ waver’s going to.... cover his face with his free hand? that is how embarrassed he feels.

although he can’t help but feel a bit of nervousness, too. if dazai’s implying what waver thinks he’s implying, then... ]

[Waver's so cute. Dazai chuckles and presses a kiss to the back of that hand, too.]

I should be the one asking you that.

[Dazai's been sure of it since they left the castle - no, since that trial. He just didn't want to rush Waver at all.]

[ even though the answer should be an easy yes, waver feels like it’s much more difficult than that for him. it’s been a long time since he’s shown this much vulnerability to someone else.

that’s why he’s said no all this time. because he’s scared. scared that he won’t be good enough, that daza won’t like him, etc. etc.

hesitantly, he takes the hand away from his face, and instead uses it to run his fingers through dazai’s red hair. ]

Yeah. I... I want to.

[Dazai knows it's harder for Waver than it is for him. It's why Waver sets the pace and Dazai goes along with it - he can't break the trust of someone he loves.

But when Waver finally gives him that yeah, Dazai lights up like the brightest of fireworks, before leaning in for a kiss. Slow and sweet and everything Waver deserves.

I love you. You're more than good enough and I won't regret this.]

[ waver sighs into the kiss, returning it with an uncharacteristic excitement in the pit of his stomach. he wants to trust dazai with this, with his whole body and soul.

the only reason waver actually pulls away is because has to catch his breath, looking away from dazai in embarrassment. just knowing that this is going to lead into sex...it makes this a lot more important for waver. ]

Are you...sure about this?

[Waver being embarrassed after affection isn't new, but this kiss in particular is entirely uncharted territory for them. Dazai's a little flushed too.]

One hundred percent sure. So if you're sure, and I'm sure, then there's nothing to worry about.

[He presses a soft kiss to the line of Waver's jaw, so helpfully presented to him by Waver looking away.]

[ waver feels a small surge of confidence when dazai assures him. in the back of his head, he finds it stupid that he would be worried in the first place-- it's dazai he's with.

however this...this feels so special to waver that he can't help but feel unsure of what to do in the first place. it's been so long, after all...

he'll let dazai take the lead. feeling his lips against his own jaw, waver breathes out a shaky sigh, tilting his head further in order to bare his jaw and neck for dazai. ]

[Dazai must have said and shown that he loves Waver a hundred times by now, but Waver being nervous is just like him. So Dazai will have to show it a hundred times more.

Dazai trails kisses down Waver's jaw and neck, covering his skin with affection until his shirt stops him from proceeding further.]
