For a fate not so closely related to your own actions, I'll use a three card reading.

[She flips over the top three cards, and winces.]

The Eight of Swords. The Tower. And the Nine of Wands.

Yamato looks a bit downcast at this reading. Well...he supposed that Alcor had other things he had to do, being such a powerful demon and all]

But I don't need other people.

One person is not enough for a whole life, whether it is a parent, a love, or a friend.

[bittydragon]

A leader is to be able to stand on his own, above the rest. That is what I am told.

A leader needs connection to those he leads or else he is a tyrant.

[bittydragon]

A tyrant?

[harpbeat]

Do you know what a tyrant is like?

[bittydragon]

There is a demonic class called a Tyrant. They are entities of considerable power and ability. So, a tyrant would be something powerful, correct?

[harpbeat]

That is not what I meant. A tyrant, in person terms, is a ruler who abuses his power and oppresses those below him.

[bittydragon]

[Yamato frowns]

I have no intention of abusing my power! As a leader I will serve my duty as protector of the country! That is the sacrifice that all Hotsuin must make.

[harpbeat]

But if you don't have a connection to the people, then how will you know what they need?

[bittydragon]

The people do not even know of the Hotsuin's existence, so a connection would be impossible anyway. We protect our country from the shadows.

[harpbeat]

...I wonder if that will turn out all right.

[bittydragon]

We have been doing it for generations and so far, the country is still in one piece...

[Yamato looks a bit troubled by something]

However, my family has been saying strange things as of late. How the people have forgotten their intended purpose, and are rife with corruption and pettiness, and how it must be corrected...

[harpbeat]

That is most worrisome.

[bittydragon]

Is it? I only know what they tell me. Although they are my family, even I know better than to blindly trust them until I see it for myself.

I have been around for a long time, and people are no worse than they were a thousand years ago.
