The Soulmate? Jamjar?? Meme
So whatever you were doing - sleeping, eating, dying - you've been whisked away to a strange place. Well, no, actually it's a pretty cozy-looking apartment, it has an entire fridge and everything - but it definitely is not where you were. You should not have woken up in this apartment's only bed, along with somebody you've never seen before.
After you stop having hilarious misunderstandings with your bedmate, you may make your way outside only to find: it's pretty nice out here? Very 21st century suburbia. Some of the buildings seem a little out of place, like someone requested a jousting arena and a virtual reality room and the Angel did their best to fit them in-
Wait, back up a second.
The giant angel flying by (white wings, halo, radiance, the works), upon seeing you gawking, will happily inform you that this is your new home, and they brought you here because your soulmate was tragically born in another world. But now you're here together, living peacefully with nothing to stop your love from blossoming!
And no, they won't send you back. You'll be much happier here once you get used to it. Living side by side with your soulmate and being encouraged to get to know them, or get to know them, what else do you need?
Options, because we like options:
1. Soulmates are a known thing. Apply all the soulmate tropes you wish - not seeing color until you meet your soulmate, having your soulmate's name written on your body, etc. You can tell that at least the Angel's claims about this person being your soulmate are true. It doesn't necessarily make things less awkward.
2. Soulmates, what hogwash! Soulmates aren't a thing that everyone knows about and everyone has where you're from. You might believe in them, but you also believed in Santa when you were younger. Or you might think this whole thing is stupid, and your growing attachment to your 'soulmate' is just a coincidence.
(Post with character name/canon name/shipping preference. Due to the nature of this meme, cross-canon CR is encouraged and almost essential unless you have some alternate universe shenanigans in your canon.)

...will you put it on for me?
[ because she is feeling thoroughly wooed, and if they are going right for romance novel levels of gestures she is going to commit, damn it. ]

She looks wonderful in it, like he knew she would.]

something interesting does happen when he closes the clasp— the colors of her hair brighten and intensify, and she just seems a little more solidly present, in a difficult-to-define way. ...her vague static prickle also goes from a faint tickle to the fuzzy feeling one might get from holding their hand near a CRT monitor. offerings!
as soon as he's done she reaches up to catch his sleeve, her other hand coming up to touch the necklace. ]
... thank you.

He traces his words with his finger on the back of her hand.]
You're welcome

I think you've officially gotten revenge for the compliments.
[ her voice is mostly a mumble, and after a moment she gives up and tips forward to rest her forehead on him. ]
no subject
To confirm this, he looks confused at her comment, then blushes when she leans her forehead against him. They are... very close, aren't they. He looks at the ceiling.]

she gives herself around five seconds to enjoy the contact and also to try to calm the heck down before pulling back and letting go. ]
Sorry. ...I extra owe you dinner now, though, so if you have any requests...?
[ not that she hasn't already more or less taken over cooking solely to save him from himself, but. there's making dinner and then there's making dinner. ]
no subject
He shakes his head. No, he doesn't have any requests, and also no she doesn't owe him dinner. But anything she makes it leagues better than what he can do for himself anyway.]
no subject
You do realize I'm just going to take that as a challenge to make something good enough you have to request it again later.

You do realize this is something I'm doing for you, right? Half the fun is figuring out what you like best.

But why

?

...That aside, it's, um. It's something to do, and it's a way of getting to know you better...?
[ she hesitates for a moment, and considers leaving it at that, but. is there really any point in being cagey about herself outside of the cases where it's for her own comfort? ]
I used to... I was homeless, for a while. And I still needed to eat then. So the people who took me in taught me to cook, and... in the end I ended up sort of taking over that part of contributing to the household, I suppose. So I enjoy that sort of thing.

Everything you make is delicious
[So she doesn't need to try very hard.]

I would hope so. But I'm still going to be looking for favorites.
no subject
[Is 'not burnt' a favorite.]

[ "part of the journey," was what she was going to say, but. great minds, etc. ]
...aah. Hmm.
I mean this in the kindest way possible, but. Um. Now that I think about it, that's perhaps not that surprising considering... what you've had to pick from...
[ she is so glad she's can cook for him. heck! ]

Right, I think I'm making dessert tonight too.
[ it's time to fEED SUGA NICE THINGS ]

[Says the man who just made her a necklace with real jewels.]

Making sure you have nice things to enjoy isn't "too much."
