[Chuuya wouldn’t dream of bailing right now. This could very well be their last night together, and like hell he’s going to waste it not holding his boyfriend in his arms. He curls up beside poet-Chuuya and pulls him close before pressing a kiss to his forehead.]

I’m not going anywhere.

[Good. He wants to believe they'll survive this, and this isn't their last night... But he can't convince himself that the odds are good.

Chuuya holds his boyfriend tight, and leans up to kiss his lips.]

[He means that poet-Chuuya’s short lifespan was always going to be a thing, so why not die together now than live on in misery?]

Instead of answering, he kisses Chuuya again and again, clinging to him even tighter.

Can they not talk about that? Can he not have to think about that, just for a while?]

[Chuuya can read the mood, and he simply lets himself melt into every kiss, his hands gently cradling poet-Chuuya’s head. He wants his boyfriend to be happy, always, but that isn’t going to happen, is it?

Then they should spend this night getting lost in each other until morning comes.]

[There isn't anything they should worry about giving or receiving, as long as they're in each other's arms.]

[He’ll say it as many times as poet-Chuuya needs to hear it, arms wrapped around him to hold him close. He showers his face with kisses, never wanting this moment to end.]

We can sleep. All I need is you right next to me like this.

[Chuuya seeks his boyfriend's lips, kissing him deeply.

If it's their last night, he doesn't want to waste it by sleeping. Not until he has to.]

[Whatever his boyfriend wants, he’ll get. Chuuya sheds his gloves and slides his hands up his boyfriend’s shirt, more for just the feeling of warm skin on his own than to be lewd or suggestive.]

[He murmurs the words against Poet-Chuuya’s chest, listening intently to the sound of his heartbeat.]

[His heart beats in imitation of a human being. When he dies, he'll leave an ink splatter on the ground.

Chuuya pulls his own shirt off. On the last night, he doesn't want there to be any barriers between them.]

[Chuuya doesn’t give a good goddamn whether poet-Chuuya is human or not; he loves him more than anyone or anything in the entire world, and nothing is going to change that.

He strips down to his underwear so that he can lay chest to chest with his boyfriend before kissing him softly on the lips.]

[For a moment, Chuuya just rests with his arms around his boyfriend and his face close to his.]

[Spontaneous haiku in bed. This one isn't as fun as the dirty haiku.]

[Not as fun, but much sweeter. It makes Chuuya’s heart ache, and tears well up in his eyes.]

You’ll never be alone again, okay? I promise.

[Tears stream down Chuuya’s cheeks. When’s the last time he completely lost himself to emotion like this?]

[Chuuya tries to wipe the tears from his boyfriend's cheeks. It's harder than it should be, because his vision is blurry for some reason-

Oh. He's crying too.]

[Chuuya immediately wipes his boyfriend’s tears away, kissing his wet cheeks and whispering soothing words to him.]

[His boyfriend, who was never a poet before they met, whispering those words to him...

It just makes him cry harder, barely able to force words out between sobs.]

[He doesn’t want poet-Chuuya to cry, but he also needs him to know just how much he loves him.]

[A pause.]

We’ll make that bastard pay, I promise.

[He wasn't calling Mori a bastard when he was his boss-

Chuuya doesn't think about that.]

We will. We have to.

[Chuuya can't fail another child left in his care. Not again.]

[Chuuya will spend the rest of the night wrapped in his boyfriend’s embrace, and the rest he gets will be full of nightmares. It can’t be helped, but he wishes he could’ve rested well before his last day on earth.

He won’t wake his boyfriend. Let him sleep as long as he wants with Chuuya warm beside him..]

[Chuuya dreams of the possible future. Of the places he could have taken his lover to, the things he could have showed him. Everything he ever wanted to share with the love of his life but hadn't been able to yet.

They will never be more than dreams now.

When he wakes, he keeps his eyes closed as if that could give him another minute of dreaming. When that doesn't work, he curls in closer to his boyfriend.]

[There’s no use in grieving over what could have been. They both need courage and determination to do this, and living in dreams, as wonderful and pleasant as they are, isn’t going to help them now.]

I’ve got the info on Mori’s location. How do you wanna do this?

If we could do it somewhere that isn't packed with people, that'd be better... Less likely to have collateral damage if we fuck things up.

[They might very well fuck things up.]

I can go from 'not holding a gun' to 'holding a gun' to 'shooting' almost instantly, so that's a point in our favor. Not that I think you can't distract him, but he's still the boss for a reason.
