early deathday post, open to his cr from anywhere, game or psl
[Starting around the 15th of October, until the 22nd, Chuuya starts acting weirdly.
He doesn't want to be alone, ever. He won't go as far as physically clinging to you, but he'll make up excuses for joining you in whatever you're doing, even if it's as boring as watching grass grow. He's not as argumentative or bristly as he usually is.
He overeats, to the point of being bloated, and if he's questioned on it he gives a pained expression and changes the subject.
He doesn't drink alcohol. Not even one drop.
Whether you're in the National Library, or the City, or Yokohama, or anywhere - this is all alarming behavior for Chuuya. It might be time to ask him if something's going on.
Or you could just yell at him for bothering you for the third time in as many days, that's fine too, but don't be too surprised if you bring him to extremely uncharacteristic tears.]

he has to eat so much, and he knows why and it sucks]
Maybe I was going to bring nothing but eggplant chips, you don't know.
no subject
giving him a mildly horrified look ]
I'm sure eggplant chips are perfectly fine if you like that sort of thing, but they aren't movie food.

[Eating so much that he'd been bloated had been the first visible sign that something even more was wrong, more wrong than the usual.]
no subject
[ concerned, but not quite asking ]

In the end-]
Maybe it's just the weather.
[-he can't make himself be honest.]

[Because even if it's not the night part of movie night yet, he doesn't want to be apart that long.]
no subject
I may as well get everything set up right away, then.

[And not even an hour later, he'll be at Kaiko's door with approximately a Fuckton of snacks. Seriously, do they even sell that many kinds of chips and candy and popcorn in the City?]
no subject
Oh, wow, hello there~
[ it's. more aimed at the snacks than at him, though she grins shamelessly at him a moment after as she steps aside ]
Come on in. Ah— feel free to put that on the couch, I'll clear off the table in a moment.
[ her apartment is a pretty nice studio— one of the advantages of not needing to eat is getting to put the saved money toward living arrangements. the aforementioned TV is a respectable flatscreen, and she's got a couchtatsu as the place of honor in the middle of the room, with books (library and otherwise), DVDs, and an open laptop sitting on the table. there are a couple of posters with quotes on them on the walls, and in the corner is a little table with an incense burner. ]

Chuuya drops the pile of snacks (that probably weighs half as much as he does) on the couch, before taking a proper look around her apartment. The posters get his notice first.]
Good taste in decorations.
[Then he turns his attention to the books.]

I try! I don't have as much as I used to, but I've at least replaced most of my favorite things.
[ Paradise Lost, The Phantom of the Opera, The Count of Monte Cristo, Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde... there's a theme there. a copy of Frankenstein is on top of the pile; it has post-it note bookmarks stuck throughout. ...that name also pops up elsewhere on the table in the form of two DVDs and a CD, if he looks.
(there is also a library copy of Goat Songs near the top of the pile. oops.) ]
no subject
Chuuya clears his throat.]
How do you like it? 'Goat Songs'.
[He knows what he thinks about that collection, but he wants to hear her thoughts - he'd ask even if things were normal.]
no subject
[ this is literally the canon version of the tumblr AU thread ]
...I liked it a lot. I think... I feel like I'm missing a layer of meaning, maybe, but... reading it was nostalgic, mostly.
no subject
Sometimes it's not about meaning - more sensation, or a moment in time. Even if I meant something, I don't mind if you interpret it differently.
...I'm glad you liked it. It makes me happy.
[For the first time in a long while, he manages a real smile.]
no subject
I read Poems of Bygone Days, too... I don't suppose I can get autographs on them both once I've gotten my own copies.
no subject
Of course you can.
[Even at full tsun he wouldn't say no to that??]
no subject
I don't like taking friends for granted, all right.
no subject
[A little too well.]
But you've got me. Even if I say something stupid.
no subject
no subject
Now Chuuya just sighs.
She can stay with him for whatever reason she likes as long as she stays with him.]
no subject
[ climbing over the side of the couch to plop down and then pats the seat next over '^' get over here ]

What are we watching first?
