You wake up in a hotel room. You don't remember the previous night at all. In fact, you may not recognize the sight outside the hotel window. It doesn't matter where you were, because you're in Las Vegas now.

Also, you're sharing the bed with someone else. You may not recognize them. You probably don't. They may not be your preferred gender, or species. It doesn't matter, because you have matching rings on your fingers - or whatever you have that approximates a finger - that can mean only one thing.

You got married in Vegas.

[Even when everything that's greeted Sakutarou since he woke up is unfamiliar and intensely worrying - the signs in the hotel room are only in English, that definitely isn't the Tokyo skyline outside the window, he has no idea who this girl he's sharing a bed with is - it's nice to know that one thing is constant.

It would be better if that wasn't him being incredibly clumsy, but at least it's something.

If Mai isn't woken up by the thunk of Sakutarou falling out of bed and onto his face, then she'll probably be woken up by his wailing, because no matter how many times he trips over his own two feet, it still hurts.]

[Mai sits up in the fluffy bed, grabs the nearest of about thirteen decorative pillows, and brandishes it like a weapon. She takes stock of the scene around her.]

[The scene: a hotel room, including a lovely view of the Vegas skyline and a grown man crying on the floor because he hurt himself.]

[Mai climbs out of the bed, ignoring what's left of one of those giant margaritas people carry around in Vegas, and points her pillow down at him.]

Who are you.

[Sniffle... Okay, he's done crying enough to address the girl threatening him with a pillow.]

I'm Hagiwara Sakutarou... I just woke up here.

[If he's a kidnapper, he's a really ungraceful one.]

...You didn't kidnap me?

No! I don't even know who you are!

[He gets lonely but not that lonely! And he wouldn't be able to pull a kidnapping off anyway!!]

I don't either. This definitely isn't Tokyo...

[He'd recognize the skyline, at least. Tokyo is big, but there are some landmarks you can almost always spot.]

[She walks over to the window, stumbling and holding her head, and steps on a marriage license. Not that she notices; she's too busy looking out the floor-to-ceiling window.]

The signs in the room are only in English. No Japanese.

[He may not read it all that well, but he knows what English looks like, and that's definitely what's telling them what TV channels they have access to and how to give the hotel money to get more.]

[She points helpfully out the window. There is, in fact, a large fake volcano on a rooftop across the street.]

[He may not have figured out exactly where they are or how they got there yet, but at least he still has his priorities?]

[Maybe tacky, but. She looks over to the mini fridge and inspects the contents.]

It looks like a hotel room, so probably... what's provided is free, and if we want more we have to pay.

[He could use some water, actually, his head hurts.]

But I haven't gone to hotels for a while.

...What's this. [she picks up the drive-thru marriage license]

[Sakutarou's English isn't stellar, but he can at least recognize his own name, and he comes closer to be able to read the rest over her shoulder.

That's - that's fake, surely? This isn't a binding legal document?

You can't possibly legally be married in a drive-thru.

Well... I don't know if that's illegal, exactly... But it's a sacred bond. Getting married in a drive-thru would be like being crowned king in a gutter, it doesn't make sense.

[Maybe it's some kind of honed battle instinct, maybe it's just what everybody does, but Mai grabs one of the many decorative cushions on the bed and throws it. She sits up...
