Your character is suddenly compelled to announce exactly why their life sucks. Other characters respond with sympathy, shock, pointing and laughing, whatever works.
"I was ready to make peace with myself, for Amada's sake...it was everyone else's fault for getting too damn close. I warned her. I warned her and she...FUCK..."
"Who are you to decide what would've been best for Ken-kun, and for everyone else? Did you ever think to freaking ask what he wanted, what Akihiko-senpai, Minako-- what any of us wanted?!"
His emotions are completely unwound, and he gets right into Shinjiro's face--
"He's eleven! He's a little kid, and you really think the best solution was to freaking... dead man walking and let him shoot you?!"
Junpei-- he grabs Shinjiro's jacket, pulling him down to his level--
"You wanna know what I think, senpai?" For once, Junpei's voice is... oddly cold, and quiet-- "I think you're the one who wanted to die. You just used Ken-kun and the drugs as an excuse to run the hell away from what happened."
"My fate was in his hands! I told him he'd be like me in the end, but it was gonna be his choice. Do you fucking know how it feels to take someone's life? ...I took his mom away from him...he probably felt just like Aki when his little sister died in the orphanage fire. Aki's pain was so intense, I felt it too!"
"No, I don't! But I know the feeling of wanting to kill someone so badly all you can see is red! To make them feel even half the pain you feel, because they took someone you loved from you!"
And here, Junpei grit his teeth--
"---But I'm glad Minako and Akihiko-senpai stopped me. I beat the hell out of those two bastards, but they stopped me before I fell too far. And you really, really thought that would solve all of Ken-kun's problems? Don't give me any of that bullshit, senpai."
He let go of Shinjiro's coat, stepping back.
"You can justify it all you damn want in your head, but in the end, it's not that you're a murderer that's the problem-- it's that you're freaking coward."
All of this shit is so overwhelming. His narrowed, glaring eyes seem to stare directly into Junpei's soul with intensity.
He brings his fist back and screams, throwing it forward. He punches the wall behind Junpei, breaking the skin on his knuckles a little as he holds his fist against the wall, breathing heavily. It's not good for his heart to get so worked up.
Whoa geez, Junpei's eyes slammed shut, waiting for the hit--
Only to feel the impact-- air wizzing past his ear, the force of that punch against the wall vibrating in his chest. Seems like Akihiko wasn't the only one with a mean right hook.
For a second, silence. And then...
"...It's not... too late, to stop running, senpai."
Her voice rings out bright and sharp, to cut through the tension. It's not half as authoritative as she'd wanted it to be. Leader Voice failed her, but it's not hard to tell why, with the tears starting to fall and the creased look of her forehead. Her boys are fighting, two of the most important people in the whole world. She loves them both so much it aches and seeing them tear at each other like this is more than she can bear.
Especially after everything else.
Maybe it doesn't make sense, but that doesn't matter. They're here, and she's here, and she's going to hug them. Gently placing both hands on Shinjiro's fist to take it away from the wall, and then grabbing Junpei by the shoulder.
Hug, goddamnit! She's clinging on tight so they can't get away.
Her voice is his weakness. The rage dissolves into confusion, and he can finally feel the sting of his punch in his fingers as he's pulled away. Though almost instantly, his arm is wrapped around Iori, and she forces the two of them to embrace. He grunts in confusion, but he'll do what it takes to make her happy.
Shinjiro's not the only one left off kilter from the sound of her voice. She's embracing them-- and also making the two of them hug it out, it seems.
A shuddering breath leaves him, and his body-- relaxes, the tension dissolving from her presences.
One of his arms moves to probably snake around her and return the hug as well. Fine, he'll hug dead-man-walking-senpai, but you get one too.
"... I just... don't wanna lose anyone else." his voice is soft-- he was never good at shutting up once he started, "I know it's... gonna happen, life happens, but... not like that."
She mumbles something incoherent in response to Shinjiro. Yes, it's me. Shhh, it's okay. She pulls them both in tighter to her shoulders, feeling a bit awkward because she is by far the shortest member of this group hug. Oh well.
A shuddering breath to try to hold back the tears, and she shakes her head against them. "Not like this." She agrees. She isn't going to tell Junpei he's wrong, about his assessment of Shinjiro's problems... but this isn't the way to face them. This isn't the intervention he needs.
"Senpai, on graduation day you said you would still be my senpai, no matter how old we get. Junpei counts too, okay?" No buts.
"... I'm sorry." not... so much for what he said-- that was true, thoughts he just held back because, what did he know, right? He's just Junpei, Ace Defective. He isn't smart, like the rest of the team. But how he said it was pretty shitty, even he had to admit.
"...Just... we wanna help. If you'd just... let us."
She gives them one last squeeze, before gently letting up, setting them free from the forcible hug and so they can see her face.
"I love you both, you big dummies." She wipes a tear from her cheek, but her eyes are clear again. "Junpei's heart was in the right place, even if he let it get away from him." She softens even more, adjusting Shinjiro's coat, fussing.

He had a feeling Junpei acted out for a reason. It doesn't make it any less annoying when he does, but maybe it's a little more tolerable knowing why.

"--Do you know how much you hurt Minako? Akihiko-senpai?"
Wait, what? W-what was he saying--
"Y-you really thought that everything would be totaaaally okay if you just, died that night?!"

What the hell is with him?
