Koriko had, in truth, not been that bad.

Waking up from Koriko to find herself back in Mogeko Castle, that had been bad. Having to fight her way through Mogeko Castle a, what, third time? That had been aggravating. And throwing herself through the portal on the top floor, to find herself in a world of constant war between angels and demons-

Well, at least she already knew somebody there. Sherbet recognized her, and that meant she was sticking close to him for as long as he didn't get sick of her. So far he hadn't dumped her out in the cold (heh).

It's not that she couldn't defend herself... it's just that she wasn't going to be going up against a demon and winning anytime soon, as much as she trained. At least she wasn't sitting around doing nothing.

As harsh of a world as this was, it wasn't the castle, and that counted for something.

And she's off to go change in peace and privacy, without being peeked on. He can report to his superiors without having her around to make things more difficult.

Report is a little closer to 'getting lambasted by the head angel for randomly picking up people unrelated to their problems', but whatever, he can deal with it. It's not like Wodahs is gonna ground him or some shit. He doesn't do that. Because he's their best healer. The minor attacks that he caused have made them need to refigure some plans, but for the most part, it's at least provided an opportunity of some kind to lure the enemy away, expecting another assault.

He isn't sure how long he's in there getting lectured and then discussing strategies, but by the time he's out, he's almost certain Yonaka has been long-changed, unless she had issues with a zipper for half an hour or something.

"... Uh, hey."

How does he say that he's not exactly sure the best way to get her home, mostly because they're focused more on fighting and trying to hop worlds is a huge resource and time hog...? Easy: he doesn't, unless she asks.

Yonaka's definitely changed, and appreciating dry, clean clothes more than she has in living memory. She's leaning against a wall, just resting, when he comes back.

"Hi." A pause. "How'd it go?"

... He just cracks a lopsided grin like nothing is wrong, as usual, and cheerfully says, "I got yelled at! A lot." But that's okay because he doesn't really care about it. More importantly...

"The head angel isn't really all that happy with me randomly dragging people who don't belong here in, but I argued if you did happen to be some kind of weapon, at least, you know, we had you, instead." He shrugs a bit; he doesn't think Yonaka looks much like a weapon of mass destruction, honestly, but you can never be too careful. "I guess he's worried, since some demons can change shape and all of that."

"It's his job to be worried about stuff like that, probably. I can't really blame him."

The yelling probably wasn't even that overboard.

"I solemnly swear I'm not a demon, though."

"Yeah," Sherbet says airily, with just the vaguest hint of annoyance, maybe. "I mean, I argued that he'd basically be saying I don't know my own ass from a hole in the ground if I can't tell what is and isn't a demon by now. Which, if that was true, my existence would therefore no longer have any purpose, and I'd probably be dead, or something."

Really annoying. Very annoying. Sensible, he supposes, but annoying.

"... Gonna have to get one of the others to mend my poor scarf. But mostly, the damage is minimal; I'm not really sure how Our Lord is taking the entire thing. Haven't seen them yet. They're busy. The problem is, I have to wait to, mostly because I need to ask about you."

That is, how the fuck does he get you home? He might be able to do magic, but he isn't a world-hopping miracle-worker like THAT.

"Sorry about your scarf, again." Even if it wasn't really her fault to begin with, she feels a little bad, mostly just because he was really attached.

"...Since you mentioned it... Actually, now that we're here, I'm not sure what I should be doing other than not getting eaten by demons. Which, don't get me wrong, is definitely my first priority. But - what do you want me to do?"

He has a lot better understanding of the situation than she does, still.

"It's fine, I'll have Ciel or someone mend it for me." He'll just have to go without for awhile. Oh well. But on the subject...

"Mm, to be honest, I have no idea~! Well, I could make a few jokes, but in honesty... I'm not sure. We could always use someone to help with the people recovering, of course, until we can figure out how to get you home, if you're okay with that."

Like, yeah, he's a healer, but generally sometimes really bad injuries... take a little while to heal. Days, even! Which means that those wounded soldiers WILL need care...

"I'm sure Ciel wouldn't mind the help, anyway."

"I'm pretty good at treating injuries! I don't have magic or anything but I know how to deal with a lot of stuff."

What she couldn't blame on Mogeko Castle, she blamed on Koriko. That about covered where she picked up most of her skills.

"I'd be happy to help you."

This pleases him, actually; she'll be useful, and that'll assuage any complaints the others should have.

"Hahah, I'm sure Shorty will be happy to have someone else around like her," he says flippantly, grinning. He is teasing, of course. "Then I won't have to feel so bad about disappearing half the time."

He isn't really 'home' all that often, truth be told. His job is information-gathering and healing and pulling people out of the field before they die horribly.

"I figured you'd be busy... That's oka- hey, what was that about me being short? You're just tall."

She doesn't like the idea of him going out and risking himself, but that's war, isn't it? She couldn't possibly ask him not to.

But it doesn't excuse short jokes!

Okay, he can't help laughing even more at her disdain.

"Yeah, I've been called a tree once or twice, but you and Shorty are both kinda small. S'not my fault," Sherbet replies airily once he's done chuckling. "Man, if I loaned you my halo, you could even look like a proper angel, just... without the wings. Cute!"

He does think it's cute. In fact, he'll consider it, taking his halo off into one of his gloved hands.

As embarrassed as she is about being called cute... "Wait, you can just take off the halo?"

She's gonna reach out and touch it in his hands now. Please don't be some weird kinky thing.

"Standard issue," he says, shrugging lightly. No, fortunately, it's not some 'weird kinky thing', although no one would put that PAST him.

"Sometimes I steal Shorty's. She doesn't really like it." He has been beaten on more than one occasion in which he thought it'd just lighten the mood and be funny, was all. "I mean, we're all created with one, but you don't really need it."

There were, indeed, a lot of soldiers who, to remain indiscreet, chose not to wear them.

"Well, to put it another way... if people could tell what you were just from the halo, I think that'd be kind of bad for stealth."

"Good point." She sets his halo on top of her head. Positively angelic.

"But isn't it still hard to pass as a demon if you don't have horns and demon wings and everything?"

The most angelic, it's almost like you've never killed anything, Yonaka. Almost.

"It would be, if we didn't have ways of properly disguising ourselves." He got a lot of things this way. "But we do keep the halos somewhere safe; it's kind of an identifier. You can tell the real article if you know what to look for."

Magic signature, or something like that. He's not at liberty to explain too in-depth, or he'd get in trouble for information leaks.

"It's a lot easier to fake some horns and stuff than it is to remove them."

"Makes sense."

Yonaka fiddles with the halo for a second - is it big enough to pull down over her face, probably not - before returning it to him. "Looks better on you."

Sherbet snorts, watching her action.

"Little bit too big for you, though I don't think you need one! Honorary angel. You maimed a demon, after all!"

He says it so cheerfully, but he'll hold it in his hands and then put it back on his head, and it'll just float there, somehow, around that hair of his that's always mussed and sticking out too much.

"Aww, thanks. I'll treasure my angelship forever."

Anyway, anyone would've maimed a demon in that situation. She doesn't think much of it.
