hey Rozen hey Rozen hey
"Everyone gets old and dies. At least, all humans do. It's okay - I've had a good life with you."
Yonaka had accepted that she was going to die soon. It was Ivlis who couldn't accept that he would lose her, who searched frantically for any way to keep old age from claiming her.
He hadn't expected, or wanted, Siralos to come calling, saying, "I can return her to her youth. Call it a favor for my son, hm?"
Ivlis couldn't possibly trust Siralos, but neither could he refuse his aid, when there were no other options and Yonaka grew weaker by the day. He accepted, and Siralos smiled and told him she would be young again with the next rise of the sun.
Which she was. Dawn found her curled up in her bed beside Ivlis, as young and healthy just before they met.
Siralos had 'forgotten' to mention that he'd returned her to the state of her youth in all ways - without the memories of meeting him, or of any of the years they'd spent together.
For the moment, she slept peacefully.

Yet, all those worries dissipated away as he rolled over to check on her this morning.]
Ah- !
[With a soft sigh of relief, he gently shakes her shoulder.]
Hey, wake up. Don't wanna sleep for too long, eh?
no subject
She opens her eyes, sees someone she doesn't recognize, and screeches, scrambling backwards and falling out of bed.
Yonaka should be saying things like 'who are you' and 'where am I' but terror clogs her throat. The last time she woke up in a strange place with strange men, it all went badly for her. The only coherent thought she has right now is not this again.]
no subject
[That...did not turn out as he had intended. Did she have a bad dream, perhaps? That was probably it.]
Yeesh, too loud. [awkward coughs and scratches the back of his head sheepishly.] Yonaka, what's wrong? If you have a nightmare, then tell me, okay?
no subject
Who are you?
no subject
[Those worries that were gone had started to rise within him again, and confusion etches his face.]
It's me, Ivlis! You know... [He points at himself.] Devil of the Flame World? Ruler of all flame demons? Your lover??
no subject
I don't know you, I've never met you in my life- stay away from me!
[She doesn't have her knife with her. Her back has hit a wall and she's nearly hyperventilating.]
no subject
W-wait, calm down- [He puts his hands up in defense as he walks over to her.] I'm not gonna hurt you, I swear!
no subject
[This is it. She's going to die this time. She'd just been lucky the first time, it couldn't last forever. Goodbye, cruel world.]
no subject
...idiot. Why the hell would I hurt you? If I didn't like you, then you would have been out long ago.
[Not that the last part would make anything better.]
no subject
[Not that she would have been happy to believe him before Mogeko Castle, but there's just no way now. His hand on her is gentle, but she's still trembling.
Maybe she shouldn't have called him an idiot. It's true, though.]
no subject
[...no, she's actually right. No one in their right mind would trust someone they don't know, especially if they woke up in bed with them.
But, still. If she doesn't seem to know him, then what if...]
...wait, how much do you remember, anyway?
no subject
[It might, if he actually knows her. He does at least know her name.]
no subject
[If she only knows that much, then that cinches it- she has lost her memories.
At that moment, Ivlis could have sworn he felt his heart drop.]
...not really...
no subject

[He keeps silent for a few minutes, although it seemed more like an eternity.
'This sucks.'
He casts his eyes downward for a moment.
'This really sucks.'
But...he has to. She doesn't remember anymore. Not even a single shred of their past times together.]
...no, I don't mind. Though, I'd like a request, so hear me out- [When he looks up at her again, his eyes take on a more somber look this time.] ...can you just stay for one more day? Just to maybe give you a tour around the world, and I'll still send you home after.
But, if you don't want to, then that's fine. I'm not going to stop you.
no subject
...But he looks so sad when he asks her to stay. And, it's not like there's much for her at home now, anyway...]
Just one day? I guess... I guess I can do that.
no subject
[Although he sighs, the weight upon him hasn't been lifted.]
Well then, let's get going.
[He extends a hand to her;if he's going to spend these last moments with her, then might as well make the best of it.]
no subject
She feels bad for him, for some reason she's not sure of, but he still frightens her enough that she doesn't want to touch him if she doesn't have to.]
