gershom goes to a con open post

[A]
Do you think I could get away with going out to an anime convention?

[Whether handwaved or not, you're someone allowed in Gershom's apartment for him to anxiously ask the question.]

I've seen pictures of modern cosplays and they're incredible... So maybe I could pass as someone wearing a really, really good mask, nu?

[B]
[Wow, that guy's Sans cosplay is really good. Like eerily realistic. His jaw even moves when he talks and he's got full articulation in his skeleton hands and everything.

Also, he's wearing a dozen charms of various anime cats.]

Excuse me, um, do you know if any of the vendors are selling cat ear headbands?
brb_comiket: (He put it WHERE?)

Blows a deep layer of dust off this journal just for you. B.

Ah, a skeleton of fine taste!

[The girl carrying a bag full of … books and prints, it looks like, smiles at him as if nothing is unusual. She’s wearing a pair of simple cat ears herself!]

Are you looking for realistic ears or more cutesy moe ones?
brb_comiket: (Smile smile~)

Hmmm, in that case, you’ll probably find the best bang for your buck at one of the general apparel and merch shops like Kawaii Inc. - Simple look but in lots of colors.

[She digs in the bag and produces a carefully folded map of the artist alley and vendor sections, pointing a section out with only a brief moment of deliberation. Did she. Have it memorized?]

I can walk you over there, if you want?
brb_comiket: (My sexy face)

[N-“nu”? Cute. Harumi wasn’t familiar with whatever character he was cosplaying, but she respects his commitment to (what her otaku-ass mind automatically just assumes is) method acting. She puts the map back in the bag and waves for him to follow as she starts to walk.]

It’s no problem. Is this your first con?
brb_comiket: (So are you guys gonna make out?)

[personal profile] brb_comiket 2025-01-29 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Glad to hear it. They’re definitely a lot at first but you get used to them. This is still nothing compared to big events like Comiket, though.

[I wish I knew more than a few words of Yiddish so I could make an appropriately bad pun that would make Yiddish Sans proud.]

So what are your big fandoms? What ships do you like?

[Wasting absolutely no time in looking for kindred spirits.]
brb_comiket: (But what are your thoughts on yaoi?)

Me furiously googling when OFF was released because you KNOW this girl ships Batterie (2008 ftr)

[Harumi is from, fuckin, the mid-2000s or some shit and also not a huge gamer, so she doesn’t recognize these titles, but she likes the names.]

Hey, nothing wrong with a canon ship if it’s a good one! But indie games, huh…? [She taps her chin] You ever play OFF? I’m usually more of an anime girl but I did a small book for it a few years back that was pretty popular.
brb_comiket: (MY YAOI SENSES ARE TINGLING!)

Mm, more manga than static artbooks, but yeah. Man, if you wanna talk about the power of small creators, the doujin scene is incredible! Art, fic, music, games, merch, even full anime! It’s the best!

[She sounds pretty pumped up about it.]
