[Transformations are never quite routine. Sure, Noel's gotten used to moving without the benefits of legs now - thankfully, because it was really embarrassing the first time he fell on his face - but the emotional effects are something different each time, it seems.

Sometimes he and Beatrice can be completely content just leaning against each other to Synchronize, talking about everything and nothing in particular. And sometimes, something inside of him itches, a craving that he still isn't used to identifying even in this kind of place.]

...Beato?

[His tail is curled around her loosely, draped over his apartment's couch.]

[If Hanako were any less of Hanako about this, he and Yashiro would definitely be the ones attending this supernatural gathering to keep tabs on what's going on with the local spirits. He's been scolded for sending his subordinates to do his work for him instead, after all.

Unfortunately, it's a gathering where you are Required to have a date, and the requirements for supernatural parties tend to be much more strict than for human ones. And Hanako had fretted about the dangers of asking her as his date without Meaning it versus the embarrassment and danger of asking her as his date while actually Meaning it until Tsuchigomori had finally just volunteered to take Suga with him instead.

Suga, for his part, is always pleased to go on a date with his boyfriend, and even more happy to be helpful to him in some way.]

I know you're going as part of your job, but is it wrong to think that it sounds like fun, too? Going out with you to a fancy ball.

Not at all. Granted... these supernatural gatherings, balls in particular, are not normally my thing, but having someone with me this time does make it more tempting than it would normally be.

[He adjusts his glasses here, glancing in a reflective surface nearby to make sure that he looks okay. He's still mostly human form, save for the sharp teeth and red eyes of course being noticeable, but he's picked an outfit that will allow easy access for his many arms when he needs to extend them while still looking proper enough for a dance. It's definitely fancier than his usual preferred attire.]

Of course, the supernaturals attending will likely take great interest in my date being a human here. They might not do anything when you're by my side, but if we get separated at any point... well. I shouldn't have to tell you that you'll want to be careful.

[Suga, for his part, has a gray kimono with a spiderweb pattern prominently displayed. It's the fanciest possible version of a 'if lost return to the spider demon' T-shirt, essentially.]

Don't take any unnecessary risks, I know. [There's a glowstone bracelet on his wrist, but against the strongest supernaturals that might not be enough.]

[For his part, Tsuchi really likes the kimono, as he can't help but bring a hand up to check for anything that needs to be touched up around the collar or the like here once he's done looking over himself.

He kind of regrets that they are here for a job and that he can't just forgo the ball to do something more fun with Suga in this kimono, but alas.]

Good. I'm glad that we don't have to waste time repeating any warnings here. Are you ready to go?

[Suga takes one of Tsuchi's hands in his as they enter. The ballroom is full with supernaturals of all kinds - some more humanoid in appearance than others, including a couple of spiders like Tsuchigomori. Everyone is dressed to the nines, and music drifts through the room from instruments that seem to play themselves.

A few spirits glance over at their entry. A couple indistinct murmurs. Is that a human...?]

[Tsuchigomori doesn't pay any attention to the spirits that glance at them, acting for all the world as if it's perfectly natural to them to be here like this as he guides Suga towards where some drinks can be obtained.

He picks one up to sample, and after he licks against one of his fangs as if checking the taste for anything off that's lingering there, he then hands it to Suga.]

Alright, this one should be safe for you to consume while we're here if you want something to drink.

[If Suga does drink it, he'll find it tastes like a normal type of tea, though perhaps with a hint of strawberry as a flavor.]

[Grateful for Tsuchi checking for - whatever it is that supernaturals drink at parties - Suga tastes a sip.]

Oh, it's good. Can we have some of this at home too?

[Not that Suga should attempt to make spirit food anytime soon, of course.]

Sure. I can try to acquire some the next time I go shopping.

[He picks up a different drink for himself that has a rather sickly purple color to it, but he seems to be sipping it just fine without any problems, so it must be some kind of supernatural based drink that they can stomach easy in comparison to any humans that would have attempted it.

When he speaks, it's a lower tone though this time, clearly not intended to be overheard by anyone and just for Suga's ears.]

If someone offers you anything else though when I'm not here to see it, it will also be a helpful deterrent having something else already in your hands here.

[Good timing, too. A spider supernatural approaches them, smiling coyly behind her fan.]

What a surprise it is to see you here, Tsuchigomori. I thought you hated these kinds of get-togethers.

[Suga looks between the woman and Tsuchi. Do you know her...? Should he say something?]

[Tsuchigomori doesn't even seem to acknowledge Suga glancing at him and her with confusion, instead offering a polite enough smile to the other spider supernatural.]

I could have said the same about you. Given that someone like you has quite the social standing here in comparison to some of the others that show up to these gatherings.

[He then puts his hands on Suga's shoulder, using a third to extend and hold his drink to keep it from being lost or dropped.]

I don't think you've met my companion here yet, have you?

[Hopefully the other supernatural will take this as an opportunity to introduce themselves to the human, and... nothing too grand aside from that, he hopes.]

Joroguko. I must say, Tsuchigomori is very lucky to have picked up such a cute young man.

Oh, um, thank you? -Suga.

[He's definitely not giving his full name, he knows that's a bad idea, but being called 'cute' has him a little flustered.]

How kind of you to say.

[But, while his tone is still casual and his smile still pleasant enough, Suga may feel Tsuchigomori's hands squeeze his shoulders momentarily before he speaks again.]

So, what business can we help you with today? It must be something important if you are taking time out of your busy schedule to speak with us here.

Now, now. This isn't a gathering for business, but for pleasure.

[Suga is pretty sure that would be flirting if they weren't literally explicitly already on a date?? Where is this lady's date.]

[ The first time Beatrice turned into a devil, she had been horrified. What an appropriate form for one who had committed her crimes, who lived on deception and illusion. But in time she had come to claim this form as truly her own. She was one who had endured hell and wore the way it marked her as a symbol of her power.

And Synchrony was enough to keep that wild fire in her blood from getting too reckless. Really, she considered it a blessing that she had a good friend who was so level-headed. She could feel comfortable like this. But... she still felt it, that primal spark. ]

[ Her fingers trace lazy circles on his smooth scales, enjoying the coolness against her skin. ]

You're very pretty. A-and I would like to kiss you, if that's alright?

[It's blurted out impulsively, before Noel can really process all the reasons why he shouldn't ask. He doesn't want to make things awkward between them, they both have issues with being comfortable with their own bodies, etc. etc., but... Beato is lovely and warm and his friend.]

[ The witch's eyes widen momentarily, but already she can feel it coming before he says it. She considers for a moment, before resting her hand on his, bringing her face closer.

He was quite fetching too, and very dear to her. ]

Oh... yes. That is definitely alright.

[He's only fetching like this, and even then if you told him he was handsome he'd fluster and deny it.

He has kissed before, once, here. So he's not a complete beginner, but all the same it's tentative when he presses his lips to hers. Gentle, almost hesitant.]

Some might say business is pleasure.

[Tsuchi however also notes the fact that she is alone.]

So where is your companion? Don't tell me they were so cold as to leave you to wander around alone here.

[The spider gestures with one of her spare arms to another spider lady, who is currently Blatantly Flirting with a dog boy half her height who looks very, very nervous.]
