[When has Gershom ever been in the middle of anything - okay, that's not true, he has Skype calls sometimes. But right now he doesn't, so.]

I'm not busy at all. Are you alright?

[spelleton]

[ He writes!! And has Skype calls!! Or he wants alone time?? Ekkehardt doesn't claim to know or assume what Gershom does with his unlife. ]

I'm fine. Don't worry. [ What he doesn't say that if anything had damaged him enough for things to be a problem he absolutely wouldn't be burdening Gershom with it. ]

I didn't want to disturb you with a visit if you were in the middle of something. That's all.

Your visits don't disturb me, I'm always happy to see you. Come any time.

[ Soon enough, there's a polite knock on the door. Even if Gershom got more visitors than he does, Ekkehardt's knock is always distinctly orderly. It's emblematic of his personality, really. ]

[The lock clicks open. Gershom always takes a step back away from the door and to the side, so that no one might see him over Ekkehardt's shoulder.]

Come in.

[It's another cat pajamas kind of day. Most days are.]

[ He steps in, closing the door behind him before he exchanges any pleasantries. ]

It's a pleasure to see you as always, Gershom.

Are you well?

The same as always. What about you?

[He asked if Ekkehardt was okay earlier but listen, that's different.]

I'm doing quite well, yes. Thank you for asking.

[ He looks thoughtful for a moment. ] May I ask you a question?

[accidentallich]

Certainly.

[Why would he not be able to ask Gershom a question? Even if Gershom wasn't comfortable answering, he would just say so and Ekkehardt would back off.]

[ He thought he'd be polite. It's what he always does, after all. ]

I was wondering if you had a favourite time of year. [ If he can remember that. ] I know it's been a while since you went outside, so I wasn't sure if it was polite to ask...

A favorite season...

[It has been a while since Gershom has spent much time outside. Even before he was in this apartment, he spent as much time indoors as he possibly could, away from human eyes. To decide on a favorite time of year, he has to go back to when he was alive

Back when he could smell the flowers blooming, and hear the bird songs in person instead of just online-]

Spring.

[spelleton]

Wonderful. [ That works well with the surprise he's planning. ] Is there anything you particularly miss about it?

[ You know, for reasons. ]

[For no particular reason of any importance, surely.]

The smell of flowers, I think. It's been a long time - I barely remember what they smelled like.

[He doesn't really have that sense any more, just the memory of it.]

All right. [ Smell is less easily done - he doesn't know exactly how the magic that had turned Gershom into a lich works, and he's hardly going to poke around and ask on a casual visit - so, instead, he takes out a...scarf.

Gershom has been more than pleasant company. He owes him, at least, this much. ]

Could you hide your eyes with this for a moment? I have something for you, but I want it to be a surprise.

Oh, alright.

[Gershom trusts Ekkehardt completely. He would trust him with his life, if he had one.

Of course he covers his eyes with the scarf and ties it behind his head.]
