chuuya + link + dungeon crawling

[ Some days you spend sailing the Great Sea that is your world, seeking to reopen the way to the ancient kingdom of Hyrule, and some days you get sucked into another world and dumped in a dungeon with only a vague idea of how and why you're expected to get through. Link's okay with that. He figures this is the kind of thing that you just have to deal with sometimes when you're the hero of legend. And he still has his sword, so. He'll be all right.

What does worry him, a little, is that they've dropped some poor stranger in here with him. Link doesn't know anything about the man except what he can tell by looking, which isn't much: adult, non-Hylian. He might not even be used to combat, in which case this whole setup doesn't really seem fair to him, Link thinks.

In any case, it looks like they'll have to get to know each other pretty quickly. There's an ominous scuffling coming from behind the nearest corner, and Link throws one arm out in a "stay back" gesture, Master Sword firmly gripped in his other hand. Don't worry, fellow hat appreciator. He'll handle this. ]

[Sometimes you get dumped into a dungeon, and that's okay. Sometimes you get dumped into a dungeon when you're not expecting it, and that's less okay.

There's this kid in here with him. He has a sword, which is useful, and he can't really judge given that Kenji and Niimi have guns. But he also seems to want Chuuya to stay back and hande this, which is absolutely not a thing he's going to do.

Chuuya transforms his book into his gun and takes a couple steps forward, primed to shoot over Link's head. Not staying back, thanks for the thought but also no.]

[ Hearing the movement behind him, Link turns in time to see the stranger pull out a... what? Some sort of hand cannon? Honestly, he's got no idea what that thing is, but it doesn't matter. It's definitely some kind of weapon, and if the guy's willing to fight alongside Link, he sure won't turn that down. With a nod of acknowledgement, he turns his attention forward again as the source of the noise comes sniffing round the corner.

The creatures scuttling toward them actually look a lot like rats, though it's pretty quickly apparent they're not rats as Link knows them. For one thing, they're bigger than he is, and for another, they're not trying to sell him anything. And whatever they are, he doesn't have any bait on him, so it looks like they're doing this the hard way. ]

Haah!

[ Leaping into the air, Link brings his sword down between the eyes of the nearest murine monster. Gross green monster slime spurts out, and it crumples. One down. ]

[One down, several to go. It's sort of gross to get green slime on you, and Chuuya's definitely going to have to clean up later, but that's when he isn't being attacked.

He puts a bullet through the head of the next rat, and it crumples instantly, spurting more green goo. Not much of a challenge, though he'll have to be on his guard. Overconfidence might mean Link getting hurt.]
