[Oh. Chuuya's face falls before he can even think of hiding his expression from his boyfriend.

He would dearly like to be able to tell him Dazai is a bastard and a liar. And he has framed it in the worst possible way. But that wouldn't be honest, not really, and other-Chuuya deserves better.]

It's not that precise. Two years is more like the minimum.

[But the maximum, at least that they've discovered, is only a few years longer.]

[Chuuya drops to his knees with an anguished cry, clinging to poet-Chuuya’s shirt as he finally breaks down and sobs.]

[Chuuya is finally happy, and now he finds out that his happiness has an expiration date?]

[Chuuya's heart breaks along with mafia-Chuuya's. He falls to his knees so that he can hold his boyfriend close.]

[How could he get involved with mafia-Chuuya like this knowing that it couldn't last? Of course he knew the entire time that he wouldn't be in this world forever. He knew that, but it didn't come to his mind, just another piece of irrelevant knowledge.

Maybe some part of him assumed that mafia-Chuuya would be rid of him long before then.]

[Shouldn't have given his boyfriend the chance to be hurt like this, even if it meant never getting involved with him in the first place.]

[All Chuuya can do for the longest time is cling to his boyfriend and sob; he wants to say that he isn’t angry, that he doesn’t regret a single second of their time spent together, but all that comes out are pitiful gasps and choked sniffles as he bears his heart and soul to poet-Chuuya. Why would Dazai know that? Why would he tell Chuuya that? Is he that goddamn spiteful? He can’t even be angry at poet-Chuuya for not telling him; who wants to ruin the promise of happiness with news like that? Even if it hurts to find out like this...

Nothing has ever hurt like this, and nothing will ever come close until Chuuya is forced to watch his boyfriend die.]

[Chuuya's very tempted to find Dazai and pump bullets in him until he dies. He's not the type of person who would normally want to kill someone, but how dare he. How dare he hurt mafia-Chuuya that way.

[He'll hug him for years without letting go, if he has to.]

[It takes a while, but eventually his tears dry up, leaving him sniffling with red, puffy eyes.

Chuuya is reluctant to break away from his boyfriend’s embrace, but there are better places to sit than on the floor. He kisses him deeply then gets to his feet, standing on shaking, unsteady legs as the world spins around him.]

Ugh...

[The combination of booze and emotional turmoil has left him an absolute mess, and he stumbles over to the couch before flopping down on the cushions and burying his face in his hands.]

Would I just be as bad as he is if I killed him?

[Chuuya isn't nearly as drunk as his boyfriend is, but flopping on the couch sounds pretty good. He presses his face into other-Chuuya's shoulder and wraps an arm around him.]

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't contemplating murder.

[Chuuya leans his head against poet-Chuuya’s and holds him close, letting out a shaky sigh.]

He’s ruined so many goddamn lives...but then again, so have I...

[So that's one problem he doesn't have. The issue there is that he's not as good of a fighter as his boyfriend.]

[Just the thought's ridiculous, and eases some of Chuuya's tension.]

[Maybe they can bully him together sometime. But for now Chuuya snuggles closer to his boyfriend and pulls a nearby blanket around them both.]

[He needs it. This closeness. More than anything he’s ever needed before.]
