For
whitehairedprettyboy.
[He'd spent a month not visiting Valmont at all. Not kidnapping him, not barging into his home unannounced, nothing.
Unbeknownst to Valmont, that was a month of seriously uncharacteristic self-reflection. A month where he'd had the inklings of Actual Feelings being involved and decided to squash them by not seeing Valmont for a while.
It hadn't worked. The more he avoided Valmont, the more he wanted to see him, until finally, one night-]
Valmoooooont~
[-he gave in.
Now he announces himself by draping himself over Valmont's shoulder. They're alone in his bedroom, which Valmont is probably thankful for.]
Did you miss me?

Did you miss me?

What you just said a minute ago, don't be dense. "For love."
[ That... is what he'd said, right? Because if it's not and Valmont just heard him wrong, he's going to feel really dumb about this. ]
no subject
Oh, that. No, I don't think that's funny at all, I'm being completely serious.
no subject
You -
[ Valmont still can't read Satanick's expression when he tries to wrench his head around to stare. He's not - he can't be serious, right? Granted, if it is a joke, it's a singularly bizarre one, but surely that option makes more sense than...
Love.
It's not a word Valmont hears in reference to himself very often. Hell, it's probably not one he's heard more times than he can count on both hands. And here it is, coming from the last person he'd have expected or wanted, and he's got no idea whatsoever how to process that. ]
...You're married.
[ It's the most inane thing he could possibly have said in this situation and he knows it. ]
no subject
Demons are polygamous! My wife has more lovers than I do. Besides, it's mostly a political marriage anyway.
[He's not in love with her, not one bit. He's just fond of her. Like friends with benefits who also live together and have kids.]
no subject
...I suppose that explains a lot.
[ It's true that Satanick doesn't talk about his wife very much, and that they don't seem to spend much time together, but he's never expressed any particular fondness for Valmont either... has he? Have all the degradation and perversion he's been put through over the past god-knows-how-long simply amounted to one very extended, disturbing courtship ritual? ]
So, just to be clear - you really aren't having me on? When you said that, you honestly did mean you were in - in love. With me.
[ He can barely get the last few words out. This is worlds beyond anything he'd ever expected to have to deal with. ]
no subject
[If Satanick notices Valmont's bewilderment, he doesn't let on. He nuzzles his face into Valmont's shoulder, avoiding smacking him in the head with a horn in the process.]
no subject
[ What is he doing. Is that. Is that affection. Valmont freezes up, not quite breathing, as Satanick's face nestles against him in what appears to be a perfectly sincere manner. This is getting far too weird. Help. ]
no subject
That won't do at all. That can't be allowed. He pulls Valmont more tightly to his chest.]
You shouldn't be so cruel.
no subject
[ Ow, okay, that's a little tighter than he'd like to be held, thanks. ]
You barge into people's homes at all hours, tell them you're planning to abduct them without so much as a by-your-leave - not to mention every single awful stunt you've pulled on me before tonight - and I'm the cruel one? Get off!
[ Whatever spell that display of actual affection had put Valmont under is definitely broken by now. He struggles. ]
no subject
'Abduct' is such an awful word. I like 'whisk away', don't you? Much more romantic.
[He seems to have filtered out the rest.]
no subject
I don't care what you call it! It's not romantic, it's insane, and I am not going with you! Now let go!
[ That declaration might have had more impact if he could do anything other than sort of wriggle uselessly against the hold Satanick's got him pinned in. Damn it, why do demons have to be so strong and have so many arms? ]
no subject
[Stop wriggling. It's not going to do anything other than make it easier to see the expression on Satanick's face, and you probably don't want that.]
You're going to come with me and you're going to stay with me forever.
no subject
[ Oh god, he should have listened to the bracket text. Because while he may still only be able to catch glimpses of Satanick's face, the bit he sees now makes him really, really wish he hadn't. Those eyes -
The word "insane" reemerges in sudden clarity, and terror curls around his heart like Satanick's arms around his chest. He chokes on the end of his sentence. ]
no subject
You are. You are, you are, you are. So you should just stop fighting and make things easier for yourself.
no subject
[ This time it's not anger or stubbornness in his voice, but plain, undisguised fear. He's struggling even harder, despite Satanick's advice - on some level he knows the demon's right, that it won't get him out of this any more than fighting back ever does, but he can't let himself be stuck with this maniac forever, he can't, he can't - !
(It occurs to Valmont that if he'd known being loved would be this terrifying, he'd have been much more grateful for what he'd been missing before tonight.) ]
no subject
[It seems like Satanick's hearing him for the first time. He briefly looks surprised, a regular, normal expression.]
I can't have that. I want you to love me as much as I love you.
no subject
Then I'm afraid you'll be waiting a good long while! And now that we've established that, I suggest you let go of me!
[ He punctuates this last with an attempted elbow to the ribs, just in case Satanick's let his guard down. He probably hasn't, but it's worth a shot. ]
no subject
No. You can't. You have to. I won't accept anything else.
no subject
[ Careful with that arm, Satanick. Some people only have two of those. ]
Well, then it appears we're at a bit of a standstill, doesn't it? Because I certainly won't start feeling anything positive for you if this is how you keep treating me!
no subject
...I don't mind if it takes a while. I have plenty of time. And so do you.
no subject
And what happened to "I'm too busy to stay here forever"? It wouldn't do to be wasting all your precious time on a task this futile, I'm sure.
no subject
no subject
[ Any hope he might have had of this new, lovestruck Satanick respecting his feelings begins to fray at the edges. ]
But you just said - you wanted to make sure I felt the same way first, didn't you? And I can assure you I don't!
no subject
[Satanick's logic makes perfect sense to him.]
no subject
[ It's starting to look less and less likely that this will end well for Valmont. ]
