this can only go well

"In Jungian psychology, the shadow or "shadow aspect" is a part of the unconscious mind consisting of repressed weaknesses, shortcomings, and instincts."
Everyone has another side to them that they keep hidden away, feelings they bottle up to save face or avoid conflict. But what if those feelings take a life of their own...?
Perhaps it's your best friend, a close family member, a hated enemy, or maybe it's just a complete stranger. No matter who it is, they are different now, possessing creepy yellow eyes, a distorted voice, and a disconcerting aura. Take care in what you say to them, though, because there are three little words that will set them off into an unstoppable rage...
How to:
Step 1: Post as your character with their name and canon
Step 2: Others respond stumbling onto your character
Step 3: WHOOPS. Character A has been replaced by their Shadow or Other Self!
Step 4: Play out the encounter! Will you start an epic boss fight? Have a pleasant chat? Or maybe just flat out ignore them? Run wild!

sdr2 spoilers already ofc
But that amusement only lasts for so long as it soon fades into something... bored. ]
Ha ha, of course you'd assume that it was me. But that much is obvious, isn't it, Komaeda? I mean, ever since you dropped the honorific, I've known. It's so annoying. [ The words come off as cold and shadows seem to spread from the ground up. ] I'm kind of curious what kind of reaction I'll be getting from you. Or maybe it'll be dull and gray like this world.
yeeepp
As for why I assumed it might be you, last I checked you're living with me right now. You don't have a steady job so you're usually here.
[The other boy sounds like his apathy episode but, Komaeda is calm for now. ...mostly. His bad luck here, that much he knows.]
You don't usually rush to conclusions this fast these days. Why now?

[ There's a short scoff and a shrug of his shoulders, as if he could care less. ]
I came here to tell you that there's no point to that anymore, Komaeda. Just because I don't have a steady job doesn't mean I can't get work. It's too easy now.
[ There's something to his voice that makes it sound almost as if he were Kamukura again. ] I hate it.

[So he'd suggested a steady job. It would be an excuse for Hinata to get out more and be among people. Komaeda hadn't yet dealt with the statement 'I hate it' only because he's making his way across the yard to stand in front of his friend.]
...I suspected you hated it. It's because it's not through your own efforts. Right?

[ That's so funny, and he almost snorts on instinct. The shadows that surround Hinata just seem to encompass a larger area now and he just can't help it. Dark eyes look at him, and even though they're nearly the same height, it's clear that Hinata is actually... looking down at him, as if he were garbage. ]
That's where you're wrong, Komaeda. "Isolated", you say? I've been talking to plenty of people. Ones who aren't from our world. I'm not a shut-in, you know.
[ He sounds almost annoyed at the accusation, and the shadow beneath his feet almost lashes out. Almost, but not quite. But he claps his hands in the most sarcastic way when he states that. ]
Seventy points, Komaeda! That's right; I hate that all my skills, all my abilities? They're not my own. They're not things that belong to Hinata Hajime. That's why when I saw you so amused during that fight of ours?
[ The shadows cover Hinata, and all that can be seen are the bright gold eyes that peek through. ]
I was pissed.

I promise I'll listen to you. But you're wrong about one thing. [He raises his head to meet those strange eyes not looking away or flinching.] Not all your skills and abilities come from Kamukura.

"You had been closing the gap in our skill on your own"? [ Hilarious. How amusing. Yet at the same time, it's almost enough for him to lose interest in it altogether. ] None of it was of my skill.
You should know better. If I had any skill at all, just a little, I wouldn't have ended up becoming Kamukura Izuru, Komaeda. And yet, here we are. Equal? As if. We were never equal to begin with. As Hinata Hajime, I would never become your equal. All I would be is some talentless wannabe who would always try to reach for that star... But can never grasp it. After all, air can't grab physical objects, now can it?
[ He's implying that he's the air. But then, he decides to quote Komaeda. In the most mocking tone, right down to where he's imitating the other boy's voice perfectly. Just because that's who he is, right? He can do anything and everything without any problems. The perfect talent. ] "Not all your skills and abilities come from Kamukura." That's... what you're trying to pull? I wonder why. Maybe it's because we're "friends". Or maybe it's because you care. Way too much, actually. It's disgusting. Annoying. No matter how many times I say "I don't know how to feel about it", that's a lie, too.
But then again, you already knew that, didn't you?

His head is to the side, bangs covering his face. He doesn't want Hinata to see his face right now.] I don't see things in terms of talented and talentless anymore. I see it in forms of will. Some can face impossible odds with a will of steel. Others can't. And Master's training requires practice and mastery of the self.
I noticed your steady improvement whenever we had our lessons with him. I've been his student long enough I can see when someone wants to learn.
[He covers his face. But his voice remains steady.] In terms of physical ability we were never equals this is true! I have to boost my body, banishing what is wrong with me to even match you. Even before you remembered things.

[ He smiles right back at Komaeda. It seems that this reaction was something that he wanted to see all along. ]
I just didn't really care much about the point to begin with. [ His voice grows darker, like the shadows. ] It's b o r i n g.

[ There's a shrug of his shoulders before his voice shifts again. He doesn't use his own voice, but rather, the voice of others. He might recognize them as voices he's heard before. ]
"Oh, there he is, the No Good Hinata-kun!" "Did you hear, did you hear? He's going to Hope's Peak as a Reserve Course student!" "Not only that, they're apparently putting him in this weird project, too."
Those people. They didn't care about me before. And then -- they became impressed when I told them that I was able to do things. I could teach them how to kill, how to defend themselves. But those skills aren't mine. They're Kamukura Izuru's. Every single second, I'm losing the identity of Hinata Hajime. So maybe... it's best for me to go back. Of course, that doesn't mean that I'll be used by Enoshima again. She's just as dull as the rest of them.

[A wind picks up and curves around the white haired boy with his face still turned away. He doesn't want to look at the shadow right now.]
It's true you could go back but then by our promise I'd have to stop you. [Green light spirals around and around, the wind of its passing tugging at his clothes.] So tell me, where is the rest of you? You're obviously still Hinata but not all of him. You'll have to excuse me.
If I'm to hear certain things, you must be whole first.

[ He scoffs, narrowing his eyes. ] It's impossible for me to get scared as I am now.
[ Red eyes fix on him as he claps sarcastically. ]
And why should I tell a useless lowlife like you where he is?
no subject
[The power vanishes from the air and he raises his head. His expression is cold and aloof, as if whatever had happened before occurred in a different time. His tone is mild, as if he's discussing the weather or making small talk.]
Lowlife? No. I'm just Komaeda Nagito and you're in my way.
no subject
You really want to search for him? There's no point. There's no point in looking for the person named Hinata Hajime.
no subject
I don't remember asking for your opinion. You should really work on your manners.
He will always be worth looking for. Make of that what you will.
