Why did someone hang a weed from the ceiling?

[Rose is giving the mistletoe a suspicious look. It isn't unusual to see herbs hanging to dry in a kitchen but this isn't a kitchen and mistletoe isn't a herb.]

Over here, two people caught under mistletoe have to kiss each other.
