Snow falls gently over the Maryland streets outside their hotel, leaving a coat of white over the landscape. V/V watches from her hotel window for a few minutes, then turns to Kaoru.

"Kaoru! Let's play in the snow!"

Now would be a good time to regret sharing a room with her, or agreeing to this trip at all.

Kaoru blinks and looks up from unpacking the luggage. "...Play in it? Like on the television with the snowmen?"

"Like on television," V/V says, flopping on the bed. "It looks like fun, don't you think?"

"Fun?" Kaoru stares blankly. "I suppose I could. I don't see why, though."

"Because you'll miss doing it if you decide not to and we go back to Prospero where it doesn't snow as much."

"Has it ever snowed in Prospero?"

"Maybe. But not while we were there."

Kaoru shakes her head. "It's a tropical island. ...Fine. I'll play outside with you."

"Great!"

V/V tugs on Kaoru's hand. "Let's go before it gets dark~"

Kaoru gets up and goes, bundling up before leaving the hotel room. "Where do you want to go?"

"There's a lot of snow in the park! Let's go there."

"All right." Kaoru follows, linefacing as they go down the elevator and out of the hotel. It's cold. She doesn't seem to care too much.

Neither does V/V.

"The park was this way, right?"

"Yes." She points. "Two blocks down, by that ridiculous fountain that isn't even on because it's too cold."

"I didn't think the fountain was ridiculous. It looks nice in the pictures."

"What's it for?"

"Looking nice!"

Kaoru sighs. "So much of this is pointless."

"That's because you think things are pointless when they're really not," V/V replies.

Lineface. "Then explain the point of looking nice."

"It makes people feel good about where they are."

"There's no point to that either." She starts walking, though, toward said fountain.

"Is so." V/V follows close behind her. "I like it when people feel good."

"..." Lineface.

"What?" V/V asks. "It makes me smile."

Kaoru shakes her head. "I'll never understand."

"I think you'll be able to understand more than you think right now."

She pauses. "Like what?"

"Lots of things! Like fountains and decorations."

Kaoru doesn't answer that. She just keeps walking.

After a moment, V/V skips after her.
