Seven Masters, magi of the present day. Seven Servants, heroes of days past...

...is what would normally happen with a Holy Grail War, but this is a different system and things are more complicated than that. The organization of Chaldea employs Masters who summon Servants, but they have more important tasks than fighting against each other: various pieces of the past have been destabilized into Singularities, and without Masters traveling into these Singularities to fix history, human civilization as we know it will cease to exist.

In the Chaldea system, one Master can summon many Servants who will fight alongside each other. Spirits who would never ordinarily work together can find themselves building up a rapport from many battles covering each others' backs. Evil Servants and good Servants can function on the same team for the same goals. Masters will bond with their Servants, trusting their lives and their futures to each other.

Besides the Servants who are summoned to fight and the Masters who travel into the Singularities themselves, Chaldea also employs a small staff. These are the doctors who make sure that Masters are in good condition before they head out, the technicians who make sure the machines are in good repair, the researchers who furiously investigate any weakness their enemies might have, and so on.

And in between saving the world, you can all live together in one building and have a little slice of extremely unusual life.

1. Comment with your character. In the subject line, put that character's name, canon, and which role (Master, Servant, Staff, or any) you would like them to fulfill. Though not mandatory, it would be preferred that you give a brief summary of your character as they will (most likely) be AU'd into the setting. (If your character can fill the role of Servant, I suggest you state which class(es) - Saber, Lancer, Archer, Rider, Caster, Assassin, Berserker, or a more uncommon Extra class - they fall into.)
2. Reply to others' comments. Pick your character's role (and the other character's if they list "Any" as their preference).
3. I'm not putting in prompts because it's 2 AM and I don't want to.

[As a member of Chaldea's staff, he's a doctor, known for his impossibly cheerful and energetic manner even in the worst situations.

As a Master, he's equally perky, but strangely secretive about his past even to his own Servants.]

[There are few people in Chaldea Nightingale even pretends to listen to. She's taken her spot as the nurse manager and no one save the highest in the chain of command would take it from her. Rama, though, is on the short list of others that she at least pretends to.

But right now she's ignoring him completely as she works (poorly) at some paper work in her makeshift office. His presence, however, isn't something she can ignore for too long.

She turns in her chair.]

What is it? You're not injured again. Have you been feeling unwell?

[She's seriously concerned. More likely it's because she's been working constantly and not taking a single break.]

[To be in the very short list of people that Nightingale even pretends to acknowledge the opinion of is an honor, one not to be taken lightly.

However - even if she didn't listen to him at all, he would still be here waiting for her to acknowledge him.]

Only if concern for your health can be considered a sickness.

[He certainly doesn't think of it that way.]

[In life there were many more officers of higher rank than her. In Chaldea there were only a handful but Rama was a friend. She frowns.]

My own health? I haven't been showing any signs of illness.

[But working all day and night without any rest isn't healthy, even for a Servant such a high rank in endurance such as Nightingale.]

[If Rama has to, he'll go above her head. But he'd rather just convince her to take care of herself rather than making it an order.]

When was the last time you took a rest?

[That's a very good question. One that takes her off guard. Thinking about it makes her head ache.]

That's irrelevant. I'm needed here.

['I don't remember.']

They don't need you so badly that you can't take a break.

[The pile of paperwork doesn't even look that big, or at least he doesn't think so. But he was never one for paperwork.]

[ AVENGER. ...or Caster, or even Berserker for a drastically different aspect of her, but Avenger is the best balance of strength and. well. not having a Mad Enhancement that makes her deliberately disobey orders.

alternately, a Master— though there's something kind of odd about her...

that feel when you get too nosy about something and the next thing you know you have to save humanity from a demonic threat just because you're too stubborn about wanting to watch them kill themselves off. is this what it's like to be an anime villain-turned-antihero...? ]

( unwittingly signed up for this and ended up being humanity's last master and kind of has TRAUMA OVER IT and feels like all of this is, really, is a hugeass burden that she can barely keep herself together but is trying to because of the responsibility she has and because she can't look weak as the only one that can save humanity. )

You won't be ready for duty if you're passed out from exhaustion.

[It must have been a lifetime ago, back when she was more than a nurse. A then young woman pushing her only mortal limits to the breaking point.]

My physiology can match up with any of the other Servants of my class here.
