Well, the way Mai tells it, and she knows these things, most magic was bred out of the population a long time ago. But I've seen someone who was able to heal anything or make a prop sword act like a real sword, foxes who turn into humans, ikiryou -- living ghosts, that's people who are in comas but project themselves into the world while they're asleep -- anyway.
